Labour broke their promise not to introduce tuition fees in the 90s they broke their promise not to introduce top up fees in the noughties in 2001 & 2005 the Tories pledged to scrap fees dumping it for when they had a chance of winning & of course the LDs broke their promise on fees too #Newsnight

The House of Lords does need to be reformed shame that the Labour party backed up by Tory rebels blocked the coalition government from reforming it and getting elected members in there #PeterMandelson #newsnight

#petermandelson was Business Secretary under Gordon Brown but he was defacto Deputy Prime Minister as First Secretary of State, he couldn't have the DPM title as Harriet Harman was the elected Deputy Leader of the Labour party but he had the powers of the DPM #newsnight

Only the Prime Minister isn't subject to the Official Secrets Act because the Prime Minister can clear anything for publication but as First Secretary of State #PeterMandelson didn't have the power to do it #Newsnight
