Nick Robinson doesn't seem to understand that we pay taxes in order to redistribute within our society. His Tory Party prefers to give taxes to mates for corrupt contracts. Labour prefer to at least try to give to people who actually need help. #r4today

Badenoch's speech wasn't "powerful" as Nick Robinson calls it. It was bullying condescension which was completely unjustified given she was part of the last government's disasterous mismanagement of the economy.

How can the Tory claim the bad Brexit deal was the fault of other parties when they had a 60 seat majority at the time? #c4news

How I hate Badenoch. Incompetence personified. #budget2025

We're still using railway tracks because we feel safe enough to do so with regulation. Will no-one consider the importance of regulation of AI?

Finally we get someone on #r4today saying lower paid and younger people have benefitted from Labour economic policy.

But now we're back to Mason talking about "the final act" for Reeves and Starmer. 😡

I've done jury service twice twenty years apart. Looked to me as though there was a marked decline in the ability of the CPS to prepare adequately for a case so there's a reasonable chance of conviction. #r4today

How can the Tory leader of Epping Forest council claim that council tax payers won't be paying for their appeal against the Bell Hotel being used as an asylum seekers hostel when they're going to use council reserves? What happens when they lose and the reserves are empty? #r4today

Zeffman: "the run up to this budget hasn't gone well".

It's gone perfectly for the right wing media, the Tories and Reform.

Sack Labour's Comms team!

Zeffman: "this is a budget for Labour MPs".

Maybe, just maybe it's also a budget for ordinary people who Labour MPs listen to.

#r4today seems to find a constant stream of employers and right wing organizations bemoaning pay costs. There was mention of the Low Pay Commission. Are they never available?

How's anyone outside Ukraine going to be able to count the number of troops they have? #c4news

The mystery is why Lisa Nandy didn't boot the political appointees out of the BBC as her first act in post. #r4today

The CBI is happy to invite Reform UK to their bash. I suppose their low taxation and racism appeals to them. #r4today

Is anyone going to explain to the budget commentators on #r4today that increasing wages for lower paid people stimulates growth because they have more to spend. Conversely rich people struggle to find yet more stuff to buy so they just sit on their wealth, not good for growth.

According to #bbclaurak union leaders are "politicians of sorts" but economists aren't. Really?

Did anyone else understand that piece about tax on pensions that seems to apply particularly to high earners and is seen as a threat that Rachel Reeves might unleash in the budget. Is it another story like the removal of charity status for private schools? #r4today

Gove correctly says Covid was spread by social mixing.

Any chance of Webb asking him if Eat Out to Spread it About was a good idea then?

Sweden had a higher death rate than other Nordic countries.

Gove hides from that and #r4today lets him.

Was there really no one available to #r4today this morning not either part of the Tories' deliberate mismanagement of the pandemic or those prepared to support them even now?
November 21, 2025 at 8:16 AM
We're really getting the Robbie Gibb worldview on #r4today this morning.

"Were the lockdowns needed?"

YES!
November 21, 2025 at 7:33 AM
Lord Frost is anti lockdowns, but to do that successfully requires robust test and trace systems. His govt gave £37bn of our money to their mate Dido Harding to fail at. Local councils had to step in to rescue it from total failure. #r4today

The problem is Evan that no one knows for sure who's more vulnerable to Covid, so the lock down vulnerable people and let it rip plan leads to lots more deaths and Long Covid. #bbcpm

I have no medical training but it was perfectly obvious to me 3 weeks before the official lockdown that, as I was on immunosuppressants and my work route was via King's Cross, I should stay at home. I was lucky to have that option. The govt was negligent. #bbcpm
