If only they'd believed anyone who has worked in local government in the past 20 years who said you can't run the same services with 50% cuts.

The sheer effrontery of this Tory given they've been funded by Russians, they gave out dodgy contracts to their mates during the pandemic and their whole tenure was full of chaotic leadership changes.

No, of course not. And she's saying Streeting would be a good candidate because she knows he's tainted by the Mandelson connection and the Sun would use that as soon as he's nominated.

Sun woman says "we can't have another expensive leadership election".
The public don't pay for leadership elections.
If she wants Starmer to stay, Labour probably need to get rid of him.

Apparently it was 62 seconds long, but Trump couldn't get to the end of it. That makes him either a) a liar and a racist or b) someone with severe cognitive impairment making him unfit for office. Or all three. #r4today

If only Starmer listened to Gordon Brown a bit more and the likes of Morgan McSweeney a lot less. #r4today

Tough decision for Rachel Reeves - bail out a Reform council by £71m or let them raise council tax by 10%. Should take her all of 30 seconds to choose the latter! #r4today

Re student loans, when the brightest of our young are being ripped off by their government, what message does that give them? #r4today
February 7, 2026 at 7:43 AM
How long was the video that Trump supposedly lost the will to get to the end of? #r4today

Given we've had instances of treason from other parties (Reform in particular), shouldn't all Members of Parliament have to pass their electronic messages to the security services?

Haven't listened to that yet. Will do.

Have you listened to Strong Message Here this week? Emily Maitlis as the guest discussing Mandelson, the Epstein files - and Dickens!

#r4today
February 6, 2026 at 8:56 AM
Yes, I see your points too.

It's all such a mess for Labour. Meanwhile Trump's involvement with Epstein in those files are unlikely to be revealed until after his death/the end of his term. #r4today

I love the Gruffalo, but is it possible that Julia Donaldson's son suggested a follow up with an eye to his inheritance? #r4today
February 6, 2026 at 7:50 AM
That idea works until you remember that Mandelson represented a Labour govt and that it's a Republican govt releasing the Epstein files.

Look how easy it was to endanger a Labour govt and make it easier for Trump's favoured party Reform to get to power.

Were Labour that naive? Maybe.

Reform is so proud of our country they keep telling us it's "broken". #bbcqt

Is Zia Yusuf proud of the fact that it was the slave owners in Britain and not the slaves who were paid huge amounts in reparations? #bbcqt

The more educated you are the less likely you are to vote Reform or Tory. It's not in their interest to do anything to encourage people to go to university. #bbcqt

I found that slightly shocking. As a staunch republican I'm trying not to be optimistic about it! #wato

Reform's new Welsh leader lives down to expectations. Quote from the Tory leader in the London council he left: "We look forward to the former Cllr refunding his councillor’s allowance paid to him during his prolonged absence from Barnet".

Looks like Steve Reed is a Starmer/McSweeney loyalist, so presumably he'll go along with them in the post local elections resignations. He can take his MAGA style hats with him. #r4today
February 5, 2026 at 8:28 AM
Nope, she doesn't do numbers. There were bizarre moments, like when she interviewed a young Reform councillor sitting next to his grandmother who wasn't a Reform supporter, but I always think Kuenssberg missed her vocation as a gossip columnist. #r4today
February 5, 2026 at 8:03 AM
Did anyone else watch Kuenssberg's programme on Reform UK last night and wonder how she gets away with such a superficial treatment? Where were the facts on e.g. selling off care homes?

February 5, 2026 at 7:52 AM
Labour backbencher saying that as we saw with the Tories a change of leader "doesn't do anyone any good".

Is she saying it wasn't good for the country to get rid of Johnson and Truss? If so, is she fit to be a Labour MP?

Prioritising their mates - just like the Tories. #r4today

Funny how Reform want hospitality to become a publicly funded service, but not the NHS. #r4today
