My cat comically refuses to comply with giving a sample. Use the ultrasound machine and needle? Absolutely not. Take home kit? No thanks. A sample was successfully obtained earlier this summer and it came back negative.

Hey DC cat caregivers: Any of you have experience with cat urinary issues or FIC have recs for vets and/or emergency hosp that are attentive to this issue?

My cat is still able to go but tries to do it frequently and at times seems in pain. Vet's answer ystdy was prozac, which I am not sure is it.

Bored with TRB's censorship and cancellations?

Submit your work to the Crossroads Convening on Transportation Equity and Justice instead -- proposals due October 25.

So much amazing art and activism at today’s DC Family Bike Fest! Whether coloring bicycles and flowers, writing messages about what biking means to them, or sharing snacks and chatting - these kids (and adults) know what’s up!
Kids color bicycles and flowers and more while chatting about what they love about biking and what would make it safer. So much drawing! A banner with the prompt - What do you hope to see for biking in our community? So many thoughtful responses!

Ugh. I unfortunately know this same feeling. Sending solidarity from DC.

Few days late but wanted to be sure to shout out this great convo I had with Ashton Rohmer, who points out that all the deaths and damage that flows from car culture isn't dissimilar from the horrors of war, and what it would mean to apply "peace building" strategies to urbanism.
Our Streets Look Like War Zones — But What if They Were 'Sites of Peacebuilding' Instead? — Streetsblog USA
A peace and conflict studies scholar weighs in on what car culture has in common with global conflicts — and why we need to confront violence on our roads if we want to end violence around the globe.

I haven't really been online in the past 24 hours, but did you know that The Rapture is doing an early show at the 9:30 Club on a Friday night in Oct where doors open at 6:30pm? My elder millennial knees are into it 💃

New to me: Google now tells you where to board your Metrorail train for "the fastest exit." 👀

Will also never fully win memorizing which way is Shady Grove vs Glenmont.
A screen of transit directions from Google Maps. A star is hand drawn next to "Boarding position for the fastest exit: Middle"

Oohh. New to me: Bus platforms are in on H St NE 😍🚌💃

But don't ask me what's the new number for the X2 because I still don't have that memorized.

Thousands of people will take action today in opposition to this president’s occupation of DC.

Here are the ways Congress needs to take action in this moment.

In 2019, my stepkid was a Bloomberg supporter out of the blue and kept telling me about Mike this, Mike that. Figured out it was bc of YouTube ads. 🤦‍♀️ Agree with you a subscription seems key these days.

Dang. Definitely treat yourself to a nice coffee or other beverage today for experiencing a fall and going thru a dental appointment.

Oof. Glad you're generally ok tho! I fell on Monday because I stepped in wet dog waste and my groceries went flying everywhere. In solidarity with you on the technicolor bruises.

I actually don't know if they're officially allowed. TBH, there was talk about how long the memorial for Michael would stay given the prominent location. But it was important for community members to finally honor Michael after taking a much needed a break.

🧵 (1 of 6) Community members recently placed memorial ghost bikes in honor of friends and loved ones.

This includes new memorials for loved ones who were killed while bicycling sometime in the past year and a half, plus previous memorials that were in need of care and replacement. ❤️‍🩹

EVERY DAY I GET A NEW GOFUNDME FOR ANOTHER PARENT WHO HAS BEEN TAKEN BY ICE. DC MAY BE SAFER FOR REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS, BUT IT'S LESS SAFE FOR THE REST OF US. SHAME!! #FREEDC

Saw this on my walk to work yesterday 🤭
A yellow sticker of a cartoon snake wearing a baseball hat that says "ICE", about to be hit by a Subway sandwich or hoagie being thrown. The words "Don't throw sandwiches at me" are printed on the sticker. The sticker is on the back of a street sign.

This is gonna sound silly... but I've been making a pitcher of decaf iced tea*, then top off with some sparkling water and a sprig of mint for fanciness ✨💅🥂

*The current iced tea blend is 3 bags of each TJ's citrus berry and ginger tumeric herbal teas.

These vehicles are designed for warfare, not our neighborhood streets—they don’t belong here.

Walked by to check and the plaque is on the other side of the rack. Will ask if another can be installed on the other side for more visibility.

Militarized forces do not make our streets safer, given Constance's death, the woman killed after the parade, and this week's crash on Cap Hill.
Plaque on a white bike at 12th and New York Ave NE. Plaque says "in memory of Constance 'Tancy' Holden, 10/11/1941 - 4/12/2010"
