If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

I’ve no voice this week, so I’m putting at least ten mins a day* to actually learn piano. Unlearning bad habits, and begrudgingly seeing benefits. we have reached the ‘oh, I don’t know shit’ stage

The point of playing a game of chess is not to achieve the quickest possible route to victory for one side in a chess game, it is to have and perform those thoughts and actions yourself and grow.

Sadly, all the Learn Blender people were right. You couldn't pay me to go back to Maya or 3Ds Max. And I couldn't pay me either, because their license costs are insane

Blender is struggling. it's the best piece of 3d software on the market, and it's free. I'm not going back to autodesk.

This article is largely preaching to the converted, so Monbiot omits the basic problem that makes climate denial propaganda so powerful. For a long time, this was an invisible crisis that required the public to understand scientific theory. Deniers used emotional language first, and used it better.
Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?
