Ugh. But of course Peters won’t care he’ll just lump him in with the rest
cindybax.bsky.social
Yeah but as I just said elsewhere here, the absolute stupidity of smashing a window on this protest about peace makes me really mad. Unnecessary and against all NVDA principles. It gave him a legitimate platform from which to milk it, taking all focus away from Palestine.
cindybax.bsky.social
But it illustrates the crucial role NVDA needs to play in a protest. The focus of the protest gets completely lost in outrage about the violence. It was such a bloody stupid thing to do. Nobody needs to smash a window to convey a message about peace. Stupid and pointless.

Right? I mean you just don’t do that! Signs are a good idea

Heard plenty of anecdotes abt ppl getting arrested at airports for joking abt bombs…
But taking this opportunity to post my #1 best ever security sign: the comprehensive list of banned objects at COP24 Katowice, Poland, 2018.
Imagine the process they went through to write it - a brainstorm? 🤣 🤣

Govt to cut #JobSeeker benefit for 18 & 19 year olds who’s parents earn over $65,000, even if the teens have a disability or health condition. With #CostOfLiving & the job shortage they’re cranking up stress levels to 11, all to meet a target.
My #cartoon today about hard-nosed #NZpol
Cartoon. Title: “Job Seeee-e-e-e” Image shows PM Christopher Luxon at the open hatch of a small plane, high above farmland. He’s leaning out, and holding up a parachute pack, labelled “Job Seeker” He’s calling out to someone falling from the plane, “And I’ve kept your parachute because you kids from low-income homes need some motivation” Then he adds, “Don’t let that disability slow you down!”

Why the fuck is Radio New Zealand promoting an untested, unproven AI app for mental health by uncritically interviewing the CEO of the company who developed the app? This seems highly unethical, so of course Matt Doocey and the Coalition of Chaos is pushing this. #nzpol

Farmers are adopting solar farms across the world. Animals graze under them: indeed grass grows better. Here’s an example.
Any radwaste there? Nope.
Any fuel required? Nope.
Do your homework

Show me a cheap NPP. Show me an NPP that’s taken less than 15 years to build.
Show me an NPP that doesn’t produce radwaste.
Show me an NPP that has a free fuel supply (unlike wind or solar).
Show me an NPP that doesn’t shut down in a heatwave.

takes way more effort and cost to means test - far more efficient and cheaper to simply give it to everybody. Also people are bound to be left out, given means testing would presume no pension unless tested/applied for? You know how unfair WINZ is - imagine that for pensioners

not under this govt - the cash from those high power prices are filling govt coffers

Looks like a good time in the news cycle to tackle three big myths 🧵
❌ NZ pension costs are an unsustainable burden ❌
Seriously, no, for lots of reasons.
1. Our current Govt spending on pensions is low compared to most other advanced economies. And... [1/n]
Graph of public pension costs as % of GDP for OECD countries in 2021 (latest data). NZ is lower quartile at around 5.1%. OECD average is 7.8%. Plenty of Euro countries are around 10% or above.
