I still have a sky dish. A couple of years ago, Sky changed manufacturer of a particular component: it was cheaper. But this piece keeps breaking down: lasts 6 months, at best.
Sky tech says this is all he does, all day. With service & parts, this component now costs Sky three times what it used to

Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

Could it be that RNZ assisted that by constantly championing the propaganda from the vaping lobby?

This is what happens when you cut “back office staff” right?

Absolutely unacceptable given rising unemployment overall + losing plane after plane of good people offshore!

PSA's Fleur Fitzsimons:

"These figures show that delays in recruitment are a deliberate cost-saving tactic, driven by the government's failure to fund the health system properly."
Wellington Hospitals waiting up to six months for Health NZ approval to recruit
Data obtained under the Official Information Act shows 219 recruitment requests took more than two months to be approved, 91 waited more than 20 weeks, and 45 roles applied for in March were still vac...

I had a break from #nzpol while at COP30 where the nasties were the Saudis and the fossil fuel industry.
Lovely to get home but now completely triggered by the shitshow going on here. #relentless

Utterly shattered in Piha. COP30 disappointing, exhausting, as is the jetlag struggling to stay awake at 6pm…

Safe from #COP30 fire (everyone is: it was out pretty fast). Was already at airport…
Still not safe from climate change. I hope they manage a good outcome

I live in Kentucky. Take my word for it, coal is neither clean nor beautiful.

Or you could take my grandfather’s word for it, since the strip mining ruined the land their house was on and they had to leave their home. Wait, you can’t ask him, because he died of black lung in 2004

so proud of this report - excellent work from the team and this is even a conservative estimate.
What's stopping us?
the #fossilfuel industry's influence on governments
#climate #COP30
REPORT: If governments were to implement the promises they made in 2023, to triple renewables, double energy efficiency, reduce methane by 2030 & beyond, they could
✅ significantly cut projected warming - by 0.9˚C
✅ cut warming rate by a third by 2035 and halve it by 2040

Europe's electricity system is changing rapidly and often in places that don't make the headlines.

Look at Estonia - not that long ago and fossil fuels dominated around 90% of electricity generation.

Today solar and wind eat more and more into the share of fossil fuel-generated electricity.

Catching up slowly with all things COP: so much coming at us from all sides.
This figure from the IEA's World Energy Outlook, though.
One of these doesn't look like a solution, does it.
One of these is being heavily promoted by the #fossilfuel industry: can you please just give up?
