Random public info msg... The guys at Stats NZ work out how much each NZ industrial sector is spending, selling, and paying out in wages. Here's the 'utilities' sector for example. The whole sector spends $4,000 per kiwi on stuff, another $500 on wages, and makes a $1,300 operating profit. [🧵 1/n]

5 x draft dodging Donald Trump insults every man and woman who served in Afghan. I want an apology for the nations he has insulted, the families affected and that includes myself, my kids and my husband who served 2 tours in Afghanistan!!

So basically much higher inflation than 3% in the things people can’t avoid paying, but a fall in discretionary purchase prices (due to fall in demand due to belt tightening?) offsetting it. The CPI doesn’t reflect reality for many AoNZers. #nzpol
Electricity prices rose 12.2%, gas prices rose 16.2%. Food prices rose 4.3%, with meat prices up 8.2% and dairy and egg prices up 9.8%. Telecom services prices grew 7%. Overall inflation is helped by falling prices of audio-visual equipment (-18.5%) and games, toys and hobbies (-5.8%).

i don't know if it's "alleged" when you have the documents proving it.
Alleged conflict of interest messages between Teaching Council Chair and Education minister
The Educational Institute Te Riu Roa and the Council of Deans of Education said the messages show a conflict.

Meanwhile, in AoNZ we’ve got the antithesis of Carney as our PM 🙄 #nzpol
He's far from perfect but Carney is able to speak to the gravity of the moment with an earnestness, clarity, and dignity few others can muster. He's a serious person. Cometh the hour, I suppose.

I did not have People Magazine becoming one of the final journals of record during the dying days of the American experiment with democracy on my 2026 bingo card.
People Headline: ICE Agents Seize 5-Year-Old, Use Him as "Bait"

NYT Headline: Trump Administration Boldly Probes the Limits of Child Endangerment Laws
Seriously, @people.com has been meeting the moment better than 90% of publications with direct reporting and crystal clear headlines.

This is a good way for the low-information voters who are usually detached from the news cycle to get turned around.

Why are the media reporting anything that Trump says (such as "I won't use force in Greenland") as reliable or factual when he does radical about faces on everything everyday. Nothing he says should give anyone any comfort that a particular thing will or will not happen.
