I wanted to provide a thread here of some of the things I've been involved with in the fight against unethical generative AI for easy reference, starting with my work with @GaryMarcus.bsky.social. Our article shows irrefutable evidence of blatant plagiarism 🧵

With a big enough lens and adequate megapixels, almost every portrait contains a self portrait of sorts.
"Pat, why do you carry that ridiculous 600mm lens on long hikes?"

Buddy, I can see mountains reflected in the eyes of a trailside pika.

There's also this. I think Adobe probably dramatically underestimated how much Animate is used in productions still. You'd think they'd have that data, but rarely are they competent.

Artists and animators did this, congrats. I still would absolutely never trust Adobe as a company, but this is a win nonetheless.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was phenomenal, I'm so bummed the box office on it has been so weak, I really hope people come around to it, because the arc between 28 Years Later and the Bone Temple is really something special, and Ralph Fiennes is just the best.

Oh nooo, that's kind of a deal breaker, I don't have a single PSD without something clipped to a group. Working without it would be like working without layer masks, it's a fundamental need imo.

Yeah, that's how I'm feeling.

I'm finally messing with Affinity as a way to ditch Adobe, and it's got some pretty awesome features that make Photoshop feel unbelievably dated. People who use it, anything important to know? Pitfalls? Issues? Cool features? Recommendations on transitioning?

Adobe stock prices are nearing the lowest they've been since 2019. I would like them to create a crater when they bottom out.

Just a reminder, the greatest living American historian filmmaker, Ken Burns, released a 720 min exploration of every facet of the American revolution using zero generative AI and paying for all of its assets instead of cobbling it from stolen data, then he gave it away for free on PBS this year.
