Tragedy for the indigenous people of Alaska. Remnants of a typhoon hit the off shore islands wiping away whole communities. Rescue efforts are very slim. People are stuck in their homes floating down rivers toward the Bering Sea!

Remigration was Germany’s non-word in 2023.

While it means to migrate back, it has become a far-right euphemism of forced repatriation. When the far right uses the term, it’s an overtly racist call for forceful mass deportation of non-white immigrants.

On one of the smaller No Kings days protest here in my city, hubs and I drove past a suburban large senior residential village and there was a group of about 20-25 residents (many in wheelchairs) out protesting. They couldn’t get to an event, so staged one instead. We honked and cheered them on.

The Israeli army distributed leaflets in several areas with a clear threat not to participate in the prisoner welcome celebrations, or they would face severe punishment, according to the army. Razan, the daughter of prisoner Taleb Makhamreh from Yatta, south of Hebron, told Middle East Eye that the Israeli army brutally raided the family's home on Saturday evening and warned them not to show any signs of joy or celebration. She said they targeted the homes of three prisoners in Yatta who were scheduled to be released. She explained that her father would be released to the Gaza Strip without the family knowing if he were to be deported to Egypt afterwards.
