I do all the in-class exercises along with the students--it shows them the thing I am asking is possible and makes us all a group experimenting and playing together. They are more willing to share their rough work when I share mine. :)
Creative writing teachers: Do you ever do the exercises you offer in class? I’m thinking about doing this as a way to try them out and also to be in tune with what the students are working with.

ALLLLLLL of this. Fucking off and doing my own thing and slowly fostering a community around me of like-minded freaks and people who love books has made a world of difference for me in terms of my writing.
LRT I've been thinking a lot about how much my art leveled up when I finally found the artistic types I actually wanted to be in conversation with

it's an interesting contrast to when I was querying, most of the community had the same business goals (getting an agent etc) and not artistic intent
