2025 was another great year for African short fiction! Author @wtalabi.com recommends 10 highlights across science fiction, fantasy, and horror, from "magic-for-wealth schemes" to an unsettling religious organization (in space). And if there's some ties in there...? We're not complaining.

Hey fellow Canadians, if you've been watching people raise emergency rent funds for Minneapolis and thinking "I would pitch in but we don't have Venmo" here is a fundraiser taking Paypal!
This fundraiser was so successful that I’m doing another one! The extra funds that were set for the first family went towards the second family’s total rent need. Let’s keep it going!
I am now raising rent funds for another Minneapolis family who has been impacted by ICE. For this family, the remaining need is $775.

Can we make this happen for them today? I believe in us & will post receipts!

Locus Awards voting is OPEN!

Anyone can vote, and you can write in any eligible titles, editors, publishers, artists, magazines, and more!

Even the Hugos usually see only two or three thousand votes, far fewer in some categories - your votes matter!🗳️

and we're open! we're looking for standalone novellas, 17.5K - 40K words, on the theme of environmental justice. check out our full guidelines here: reckoning.press/submit/novel...
a reminder that I’m on the Reckoning team and if you send us a novella and if we decide to publish it there’s a chance I’ll be the one to edit it. an even higher chance if it’s queer, weird, and obsessed with birds, snails, moss, or other cool shit. no promises of course! but it could happen 👀👀👀
Our 10-year-old journal of creative writing on environmental justice will reopen to submissions, including poetry, creative nonfiction, art, short stories AND novella-length fiction, on February 1st.
