🐦🐦 🚨 Come spend a month in lovely Oregon this summer, while learning cool linguistics stuff at the #LSAInstitute2025. The theme this year is "Language in Use" (my fav topic). I'm co-teaching an intro course on the linguistics of signed languages with @ryanlepic.bsky.social. Love to see you there!
Poster for the 2025 LSA Institute. Background is a hazy photo of Mt Ranier in the distance with pine trees in the foreground. Different shades of green and yellow graphics on the corners with a QR code in the bottom left and a LSA 2025 Institute "Language in Use" emblem on the top right. Do you mind sharing what you have proposed? I think it wasn’t clear that I am interested in individual examples of what you mention. Reviewers didn’t like my proposed amount, so wondering what others have proposed for a feasible goal per year

Linguists working on conversation data of understudied langs, what is a good goal of transcribed, translated and coded data per year for a (doc / desc) project? I made my own estimates based on a pilot case but project reviewers said it was not enough. Would love feedback from you all. #linguistics
