All Along the Watchtower, Cheshire 2025
Slightly eerie view of a metal tower taken without flash recently.
#AlphabetChallenge #WeekNforNights #photography #night #watchtowers
A blurry black and white photograph in portrait format. It shows a metal hose tower at a village fire station at night time. The frame is visible (just about!) and the sides, but not much else.

Stained Glass Window, Cheshire.
Lovely orange medieval glass in a plain leaded window at a country church. The church was built in 1511, but this German stained glass was a replacement for some heraldic glass moved elsewhere.

A colour photograph in portrait format. It shows a plain leaded window in a church. Added to the central section is this amazing medieval German glass in shades of orange and red.

The Jarrow Crusade, in which 200 unemployed men marched to London calling for government intervention to restore jobs, began on this day 1936. Unsuccessful at the time, but helped to shape postwar attitudes to employment and social justice.
