This one's for Dr. @kkdumez.bsky.social. I'm in Montana, and this afternoon I pulled up behind this truck and my jaw actually dropped. If you haven't read her book with both of these personages on the two bumper stickers in the title, you must! (The blurred vehicle tag is not Montana.)

Phil Knight is almost single handedly funding the OR GOP, one of the more extreme state GOPs in the country. Keep that in mind next time you’re in the market for sportswear or sneakers. www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...
Nike co-founder Phil Knight makes record-setting donation to help elect Republicans
It is the single largest donation Knight has made to an Oregon candidate or political action committee.

As a survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Viola Ford Fletcher bravely shared her story so that we’d never forget this painful part of our history. Michelle and I are grateful for her lifelong work to advance civil rights, and send our love to her family.

While rank & file Magaist-Republicans parade around w/MAGA caps & Jesus pins & holstered guns & their leaders say all the right trigger words & bolster prejudices w/claims YHWH & his son are on their side, those same leaders are selling out the West for less than a song. Ukraine is but the first.

That was the era when Leon Trotsky and Che Guevera were guest lecturers at Harvard Law, right?
Ah yes. Harvard Law School in the early 1990s, well known for its Communist professors.

Trump's transactionalism is in one reason the new American fascism has been so thankfully dysfunctional. The only element of the standard fascism they've excelled at is gaslighting and projection.
Imagine if someone a few weeks ago told you that Trump would call Marjorie Taylor Greene a “traitor” and drive her out of the House AND praise Mamdani as a guy who will do a good job as mayor. What would you have said to that?
Trump frickin' loves this guy lmao

Gaslight and project. Fascism 101. It's really the only aspect of fascism at which the Magaists-Republicans tend to excel.
The party that promised "free speech on campus" has made sure there can be no free speech on campuses.
This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

It’s fun to think about the surgeon who will botch your surgery 20 years from now and what he’s doing at this moment. He just ran all his homework through ChatGPT. He just read that article about vaccines and autism at the CDC website. He just watched an Instagram video about the moon landing hoax.

Also, one of my maternal uncles, actually my only maternal uncle, played baseball with Roger Miller (King of the Road) in high school.

Georgia O'Keeffe spent a summer in the town of Ward, Colorado before she settled in New Mexico, and but for a collapsed rail bridge may have stayed in Colorado instead. (The first part is factual, the second part I have heard, and am too tired to fact check at this point.)

Remember a few weeks ago when Trump brought in a couple bulldozers and demolished about a third of the White House? That was weird.

I would like to propose in response to the Magaist leader's 'Quiet piggy' that henceforth when he begins one of his nonsensical rants that those in a position to do so simply respond, 'Silent swine.' This could apply to his vocal supporters as well.

It is particularly galling that Trump is calling for the execution of people who actually served honorably in the military, while he took a bone spur exemption and famously boasted that his Vietnam was dodging syphilis in 70s New York.

Just a historically loathsome figure by any measure.

Maybe you had a similar experience, esp. if you grew up at tail end of the Cold War w/relatives prone to conspiratorial and John Bircher thinking. There was aunt or uncle who lived far away, whom you had never met (for me it was a great uncle), who the adults murmured about in disbelief...

The Roberts Court and the Xian evangelical leadership are the two dominant components that brought the US to this point. You wouldn't have had the first without the latter.
“Roberts has been embedding white-dominant authoritarianism into the country’s source code for two decades. It’s impossible to imagine today’s crisis without the Roberts court having first undermined the foundations of our democracy.”

This all on the leader of the MAGA #scotus ↘️
This is all John Roberts’ fault
Trump owes his corrupt and abusive reign to one man.

NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution
