Anyway all this to say—
Ruth Wilson’s Mrs. Coulter? Incredible. Incomparable. Interesting!!! And she clearly spent a lot of time with the text because her narration of TGC (or as I knew it first, the Northern Lights) is REALLY good. She’s doing all the voices, which normally I hate, but she’s WOW

Ruth Wilson? Love of my life. After Kristin Scott Thomas, of course. And Fiona Shaw. And Gillian Anderson…. Fine! Fine!!! I have a very specific type. It’s older UK actresses who are beautiful, brilliant, poised/posh/proper, a little scary, and somewhat cold, with a sharp intensity within. Sue me!!

karma aside, this does sound like a fun job and at least six of my mutuals on here possess the necessary skills…

We have 1600 books currently out in circulation, and 1300 are overdue. These kids are lucky we don’t do late fees!!!!

Just spent 15 full minutes reorganizing the MS library’s disordered Rick Riordan shelves — yes, he has two entire shelves and that’s not counting ANY of the books written by or with other authors, published under his imprint.

Kind of wild there has been almost no coverage of the fact that the federal government unleashed chemical weapons against literal kids *at school*.

Sloane Ranging in a shirt and tie that belonged to my grandfather, tassel loafers, obligatory inherited signet, and a beat-up green Beaufort. Carmilla critical edition, knocked-about fountain pen, and loose klonopin in the pockets. I look like I got kicked out of Eton for having too much sex.

I think I shelved like 200 books tonight. In Manolo Blahniks.

If you're in the U.S., contact your House Representative by phone or email and ask them to co-sponsor, support, and vote for Rep. Kelly's impeachment articles.

"Please co-sponsor, support, and vote for Rep. Kelly's impeachment articles against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem."
I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

there are so many tween graphic novels I could shelve in my sleep
January 6, 2026 at 9:51 PM
one of these kids refuses to check a book out, reads without looking up whenever he’s in the library, and puts the books back on the shelves (kids are not allowed to do this because they get it wrong so often) WITH A DOG-EAR (extremely not allowed!!!) and will not change his ways
January 6, 2026 at 9:41 PM
a modern sisyphus: every night I shelve ten thousand graphic novels from the third return cart in the middle school library, every day the children pull another ten thousand (mostly the same ten thousand!)
January 6, 2026 at 9:12 PM
did you all know that tegan and sara wrote a graphic novel for teens about being a teen? because I just checked in an overdue copy at the middle school library !

‘you’re only allowed to talk or think about one single bad thing if it’s happening or you’re complicit’ also feels like it’s in opposition to critical thought. genuine belief that brain only has one channel and that thinking and posting is praxis

what people perceive as rightwing anti-intellectualism and anti-expertise trends are 100% seeping into the overly-online-left in the form of whatever this is and the related ‘if stories are about a topic or character they are endorsing that and if you try to analyze it you are also endorsing it”
Y’all wanna see some fucking deranged quote tweets

might quit social media after all. am only still on here to see my friends (few that didn’t jump ship entirely post-twitter) instead I am inundated with fatuous fervor, lazy thinking, doom and gloom and neverending blame. it’s not healthy and it’s not smart and it’s not fucking helpful to anyone.
