My parents didn’t go to Woodstock. Available evidence suggests they were doing something else that weekend.

Whoops. Whose pooch did he screw?

He doesn't even live here anymore! He's bought a large chunk of land in Hawaii, much like several other billionaire assholes.

His SF based employees should, every last one of them, walk out. If he's asking for violence to be directed against the people of the city, the people of the city shouldn't advance his economic interests.

There was a geek house in Santa Cruz for a number of years called the "Marshmallow Peanut Circus" because that was pretty much the color of the exterior paint.

60 years ago today, Snoopy first appeared in his persona as the World War I flying ace.
A multi-panel comic strip, originally published October 10, 1965.
The first, largest panel contains a title box stating "PEANUTS by Schulz", and shows Snoopy dressed in an old-fashioned flying helmet with goggles pushed up onto his forehead, a scarf around his neck and a swagger stick under his arm. He is walking past a sign with a tray attached to the bottom that reads "Pilots! Empty Your Pockets Here!" In the second panel he is standing by his doghouse saying "Good morning, ground crew!"
In the third panel he stands in front of his doghouse thinking "Here's the World War I flying ace posing beside his 'Sopwith Camel'..."
Fourth panel, he's sitting atop the doghouse with the goggles now down over his eyes, saying "Contact!"
Fifth panel, he's leaning forward with his scarf streaming out behind him as if in a slipstream. He thinks "It's the dawn patrol! We're out to hunt down the Red Baron!"
Sixth panel, he's looking to his right, thinking "I cross over the enemy lines... I can see the network of trenches below..."
Seventh panel, he looks behind him to his right, thinking "Suddenly a 'Fokker Triplane' appears out of the clouds! It's the Red Baron!!"
Eighth panel, he's leaning forward again, thinking "Diving down out of the sun, anti-aircraft fire exploding all around me, I catch him in my sights! I..." (but what he doesn't know is that he's now being watched by Linus.)
In the ninth panel, Linus is alone, looking out at the reader.
Tenth panel, Linus yells "RAT A TAT TAT TAT TAT TAT TAT!", imitating machine gun fire, causing Snoopy to fall off his doghouse while screaming "AAUGH!"
In the final panel, Snoopy is lying on the ground with a spiral above his head, thinking "Maybe I can get a job with a good commercial airline..."
Charles Schutz's signature appears in the lower right corner.

Ironically, the 30 that died were in two lifeboats that got launched prematurely (before the engines were shut down) and got sucked into the screws. Oops.

To be fair, the Britannic hit a mine.
Also, way fewer people died on the Britannic because as it was built after the Olympic and Titanic, they had incorporated all the safety lessons learned from Titanic, including having 3x as many lifeboats (they added larger davits.)

It's not a holiday in California anymore. It's just a day we don't get mail.

At least Frenchy's pays more (yes, I had a friend who worked at Frenchy's when I was attending UCSC. Yes, from his description, it was disgusting. But it paid well.)

So once again they’re taking credit for something Biden did.

This is our Christmas amaryllis from a few years ago. We literally stuck it outside and ignored it after the first year, and every fall it comes back.
A potted amaryllis with two open blooms, white petals splashed with red, and two buds that haven’t opened yet. A close-up of the blooms.

McHenry Library at UC Santa Cruz used to have “media rooms” in the basement where you could check out videos on various formats (Beta! Laserdisc! Umatic!) and watch them in private. Based on some of the things I heard down there, people were doing more than watching videos in those rooms.

I do enjoy having a car with heated seats and steering wheel in the winter. Heck, when my back is being a bother, I’ll use the seat on the lowest heat setting any time of year.

I’m pretty sure she had more to say than “Oh dear”.

The only rattlesnake I’ve ever seen in the wild was a Mojave Green in Death Valley. And I only saw it because I had read about the most likely places to find them before our trip, and then went looking for them. (They were not particularly active, our trip was in April and there was still snow on
