At family Thanksgivings in my youth there tended to be mincemeat pies (from one uncle), apple pies (from a different uncle), pumpkin pies (usually from my mother), and occasionally a random Sara Lee pie from a third uncle who wanted to bring something but not put in any effort. We had choices.
