BACK ISSUE #98; DC in the 80s (Aug 2017) - Prince Street News: "Aren't They All...?" Three panel excerpt: "Arguably, the concept of comic book continuity as we know it today began in the silver age in THE FLASH #123's "The Flash of Two Worlds", establishing DC Comics' multiverse (aka parallel worlds). Jay Garrick runs alongside Barry Allen and asks, "Why is mine Earth-TWO when I came first?" By the Bronze Age, DC's multiple earths had become INFINITE (personally, I'm partial to Earth-12, on which the DCU heroes co-existed with Jerry Lewis, Scooter, the Inferior Five, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer). Rudolph looks at the other heroes on Earth-12 and thinks, "Weirdos!". Meanwhile, the Marvel Universe wasn't nearly as convoluted, as the few golden age heroes who carried into the silver age had good excuses for still being around. The Human Torch says, "I'm an android!" Namor the Sub-Mariner says, "I'm an ageless mutant!" Captain America says, "I was a Cap-sicle!"
