Most of the "extra" hour I get today will probably be spent figuring out how to change the time on my car's digital clock.

Autumn weather through August and Summer weather through September probably contributed to a couple of blooms on my dwarf apple trees in October. I don't blame them. I'm confused, too. Southern Wisconsin. 🌱🍎

"Mushroom Basket" tomatoes and cherry tomatoes in different stages of ripening. We have had an outstanding growing season in our corner of south-central Wisconsin. Warm, humid, with abundant, well-timed rain. Fortunate to have avoided the flooding just east of us. 🌱🌱🍄🧺🍒🍅

Returning home on Amtrak's recently added Borealis route after a weekend in the Twin Cities. Full train both ways. Why can't we have more nice things like this?

Sure, tornado watches are concerning, but nothing induces more panic as a homeowner and backyard gardener than hearing hail pelting your roof.

Starting to feel like we are living in a non-comedy version of the Marx Brothers in "Duck Soup".

Kudos to Brad Schimel for a gracious concession in yesterday's Wisconsin Supreme Court election. He is otherwise not a likable guy, and he is particularly creepy and scary to any Wisconsin woman born after the Civil War. That's probably why he lost.

I no longer contribute to campaigns because they just use the money to send me postcards with scary pictures and simplistic slogans reminding me to vote. I have a calendar that reminds me to vote. If they would use the money to get a real message out, I would still contribute.

It only took 12 phone calls, most of which ended with no answer, but I finally spoke to someone at Social Security who understood my question. She dm'ed the person who was holding my claim AND gave me his name and phone number. By the time I called his office, the problem was fixed. I need a nap.

Doing my part to crash the economy by suspending all purchases except the essentials...and girl scout cookies. I bought two boxes from one of the scouts in the neighborhood. Thin mints, baby!

Last week I tried calling Social Security. A recording said there were technical difficulties and hung up. Today I was able to get in the queue. They called back 3 hours later. When I asked how to use Medicare if they don't send me my card by April 1, the rep put me on hold and I was disconnected.
