Thames Water is the microcosm - over £20bn in debt and bills rising.

Four new mayoral elections in May 2026 will take place under the FPTP system - despite Labour currently legislating to get rid of it.

These elections need to be delayed.

Labour’s Reform-chasing asylum policy outburst will see the Party lose thousands of members and millions of voters who know we need to stand for compassion and control.

These reforms are just a further step on a slippery slope that will never appease the hard right.

The only worthwhile leadership change for Labour would be one that changes the direction and culture of the Party.

Nothing else will bring it back from the brink.

Starmer and McSweeney's project has never been about governing the country - it's always been about hyperfactional control.

And it rears its head on its own people in the end.

The Dutch election proved what we've been saying for ages: that PR voting systems tame extremist parties and expose them.

FPTP in Britain has delivered Reform's agenda without them needing to get anywhere near Number 10.

This is just one poll, but it lays bare how shallow Labour’s 2024 victory was.

Last year, ‘Thin Ice’ showed how a fractured system and a progressive electorate hungry for real change demand a new approach from Labour.

That case is stronger than ever today.

Labour shouldn’t chase Reform voters. It should inspire progressives.

When we published ‘Thin Ice’, we said Labour would lose twice as many votes to parties on its left than to Reform.

We were right. And the ice is getting thinner.
