Diane Keaton in her Manhattan apartment with Buster, an Abyssinian, photographed by Jill Krementz in 1977
black & white photograph of young Diane Keaton smiling and standing next to a white refrigerator in a barren-looking kitchen. her cat Buster is crouched on top of the fridge playing with/swatting her hair in the upper right hand corner. she's wearing a long skinny white scarf with a dot-grid pattern, a high-neck white blouse with an ascot/kerchief around the neck, and a black blazer/skirt or blazer dress over what looks like a vest

The BBC just can’t stop wasting licence fee payers’ money.

If you have a skinny butt and sit on an uncushioned metal chair for two hours straight, your backside will feel very bruised and sore the following day.

You may be able to guess how I know this

That's my experience with pretty much every language I've tried to learn, past and present. There are a lot of things that I'll never be able to do, but I try not to let that dissuade me from making smaller goals...any of which can still be useful and rewarding! It's preferable to not trying at all

Oh dear. I was worried about whether I was going to enjoy this one. The best plan is to go out and buy the soundtrack, but skip the movie itself, then?

Unfortunately, living there is not really an option for me. But then, I'm not even hoping for native-level fluency. If I'm able to get by comfortably as a tourist without coming across as rude or a nuisance, that would be fine!

Right now, I'm trying to teach myself Japanese *and* German.

And yes: I do sometimes wonder why I do this to myself

My two faves are J Draper and V Birchwood (you're probably subscribed to them already, but just in case...and for the benefit of anyone reading this reply who hasn't)

you are a cumulative being, you are not separate from anyone or anything. be kind to everything.

life ends in misfortune and death no matter what you do. therefore, take the risks that interest you.

this existence is just a particle of something larger. you are here to feel good while you live.

Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

Thank you for sharing this. Especially when it's so...personal.

And yes: fiction can be a healthy way to help people understand difficulties in their own lives. And seeing yourself in a fictional character can be beneficial too! You're not the only one who I've heard finds comfort in this way ❤️‍🩹

*only one UK seller. There's 18 of them listed there in total, but I didn't have time to check whether they ship internationally or not (in my experience many do, but not always)

Yikes, even on Bricklink there's only one seller and they're asking £100 for it. Ouch 😖
