It just dawned on me that I forgot Bill Clinton was a president. Was in my lifetime too (barely). I picture him presidenting and it feels like I'm watching an actor in a movie, don't have that problem with any of the rest.

Not to be the well ackshually girl, but when it comes to whether or not what you were doing was "resisting" in an encounter with LE of any stripe:
It depends entirely on the officer's feelings at the time towards you, not what you were doing - anything can be "resisting" if they feel inclined.

Not in the general, it's not. Refusing to vote or voting 3rd party (in a contested district) is just an abdication of responsibility that allows the most harmful option to come to pass. It absolutely betrays everyone who wouldn't be hurt if harm reduction wins. We have to use the primaries.

I don't like looking down on people especially when they're supposed to be teaching me but sometimes the TAs and Professors I get for my masters make it very clear that they've never been in an organization where they HAD to reliably convey step by step technical instructions to another human being

There's a good reason a lot of kids in the US aren't taught much about Malcolm X beyond trying to paint him as an extremist or terrorist.
Conceptually, he and men like him were a key piece of the civil rights movement, and perhaps the one the hegemon would most rather not exist.

I actually love how every institution no matter how official basically makes demands that you install a bunch of fucking malware on your computer to participate, it's super cool. I'm glad I can't take a test without giving a full 360 video scan of my office
