Buy Now, Pay Later apps are hiding a multitude of sins in their fine print: high interest rates on longer term payment plans, and even forced arbitration clauses that take away consumers' right to go to court when things go wrong.

Last year, the 9th Circuit found that Ticketmaster's unfair, one-sided forced arbitration clause was unenforceable. Yesterday, SCOTUS declined to take up Ticketmaster's appeal.

Ticketmaster will now have to face the allegations against it in a public court like it should have from the start.

A lower court found that Live Nation and Ticketmaster's switch to a different arbitration scheme without clearly informing their customers “boggles the mind.”

News about this data breach comes just days after Discord users report having to sign a new ToS that included a forced arbitration clause and class action ban.

With consumer privacy on the line, it's clear that we need to #EndForcedArbitration and pass the #FAIRAct.

Forced arbitration has stolen the right to be heard from countless servicemembers, veterans, seniors, small business owners, and more. Congress needs to listen to everyday Americans, not corporations and #EndForcedArbitration.

Ticketmaster has been using forced arbitration and class action waivers for many years now! They recently updated their terms after a court struck down their previous arbitration clause for being too unfair. You can read more about it here: jacobin.com/2025/09/tick...

When there’s no accountability, there’s no incentive for lawbreaking corporations to change their ways. The first step to keeping companies honest is by ending forced arbitration so they can’t sweep wrongdoing under the rug anymore. Pass the #FAIRAct

Just when you thought forced arbitration clauses could not get more ridiculous:

Now, even parking your car can mean giving up your right to a jury trial or to join a class action. We need the #FAIRAct to #EndForcedArbitration ASAP.

Must-read comment from @bettermarkets.bsky.social highlighting how disastrous rolling back CFPB supervision of non-bank auto lenders would be:

Consumers submitted complaints about 870 nonbank, non-captive lenders but only 0.5% of them or less would be subject to CFPB supervision under the proposal.

Even banks agree that massively scaling back the CFPB's oversight over major nonbank auto lenders, debt collectors, credit reporting agencies, and international money transfer services is a bad idea.

One of the biggest lies spread by corporations is that consumers and workers voluntarily agree to #ForcedArbitration.

Most people don’t know a forced arbitration clause is part of their contract, and the contract is typically "take-it-or-leave-it." #FinePrintTraps #FairAct #ProtectConsumers

There’s no judge & there’s no jury. Through forced arbitration, employers & corporations have created a private system of justice where the constitutionally created protections of our legal system don't apply. That’s why consumers, workers, and small biz need the #FAIRAct

As attacks on the CFPB continue, the message being sent to victims of fraud could not be more clear: you are on your own. If members of Congress actually care about protecting their constituents, they should be calling to restore the CFPB's funding and workforce.

The GOP is whining about fraud while making it easier to scam consumers. Republicans are defunding the CFPB as it handles record numbers of fraud claims. These hearings are “a sham,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) says. From @whitneycwimbish.bsky.social: trib.al/68XtwtV

From his experience as a litigator @blumenthal.senate.gov knows that forced arbitration is "un-American."

Thank you to Senator Blumenthal for reintroducing the #FAIRAct to #EndForcedArbitration and restore harmed consumers' and workers' freedom to go before a judge and jury.
