the spectres of lina khan and gary gensler were haunting silicon valley, and they threw hands to get that administration out. underestimated the sheer chaos and stupidity of their new bedmates though. i believe they thought they would have more influence.

faced with the choice between dead portfolios or authoritarianism, they chose the latter, although some are finding the full pill hard to swallow. assuming they’re rational actors, the re-emergence of a pro-tech left would cause another rebalancing of the scales.

conversely, it was a vocal portion of the left disavowing technology that caused prominent people in silicon valley to go fash. their fear of the left harshly regulating AI/crypto/bio and breaking up tech companies caused this most recent rightward realignment.
