I’m really curious about the root of the tedious/boring voice that is dominant in Aus writing, and the way certain publishers and publications make you bend towards it. Is the origin postgrad studies? Creative writing courses? Private schools? A national love of mediocrity and midwittery? Weigh in!

I’d say most “normies” don’t read Australian journals because they’re all dull, sometimes in unique ways. Why is that? Can they ever be cool or fun? Every example I’ve seen that says ‘yes’ Is an exception to the rule, it seems.
