I love the atmospherics in this sketch. It hearkens to the labour that was a never-ending part of the soldier’s life in the #GreatWar. #LabourCorps #fwwhist #ww1 #WesternFront

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are coming to rescue you. Who is coming to save you?

Answer: Alex Levy from The Morning Show

Reading about the #WW1 British Army, I see quote a few unit battalion designations like the one in this screen grab. What does a battalion numbered 2/15, 1/3, etc., mean exactly? @fourteeneighteen.co.uk @sommephantom.bsky.social

Take a half hour out of your time to watch this short film about the young men who went to war in Bomber Command. I was more than misty-eyed by the end.

What really hit me was the comments. There’s still a well of sorrow for all of the brave young men who died in their heavies. #airwar

“Neptune’s Inferno” by the late James Hornfischer. One of the finest naval history books ever published. This story puts you on signal bridges, inside gun turrets, and deep in ships during some of the most desperate sea combat of #WW2. #booksky #USNavy #PacificWar

It’s 1988 and you’re certified to plan and lead patrols on the East German border.

It’s been almost a year since I lost my best friend. Just yesterday I received the renewal for his licence for the county animal control authority. It brought back how much I miss him.

So the holidays are coming right up. Do yourself a favour. Either gift yourself these two books, or get somebody who loves you to get them for you.

The amount of information in “Zero Hour Z Day 1&2” is astonishing. If you’re interested in how the #BritishArmy fought on the #Somme, these are it.

This little gem popped up in the Washington Post today. My dad and countless military personnel from across the globe fought fascism, and now this. SMFH…

U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

Royal Garrison Artillery Gunner F.J. Mears was an enigmatic artist with a unique vision of war. His stark and visceral paintings are a window into the #GreatWar combat experience. #fww #fwwhist #RGA #WesternFront

There’s a good article about shell shock in vol. 4, iss. 20 of "Salient Points." I’m a bit confused about para 1. Is the author saying #WW1 shell shock was a different from PTS. I’ve read it through several times and that’s what I’m getting. Also, I think about TBI.

"With Manton's Guns, Hill 60, August 1917" by Will Dyson, #NMAH.

#Australian illustrator Will Dyson ranks among my favourite war artists. His drawings of the Australian Imperial Force on the #WesternFront are both evocative and powerful.

There’s a solid story this week in the Military Times about Sterling Morelock, an American soldier who won the Medal of Honor in France during #WorldWar1.

I’m reading a fascinating book on my ipad about feeding the British Army in the #GreatWar. This was an incident that happened at Gallipoli on Christmas 1916. It’s a great illustration of what the troops thought of bully beef.
