I mean I couldn't really care less about those things at least for this particular festival and that's why I'm making my decision, I also didn't really play the Miku one for that same reason although at least there I actually didn't have a COMPLETE lack of interest

It's not like Iwata was perfect, he was the president that initiated the Nintendo Creators Program, it's a widely spread story that Reggie had to persuade his higher ups into launching the Wii with Wii Sports, and lastly, the 3DS was originally priced at $250 and so people didn't want to buy it!!!
