Contemplating the strange human species, & my life as a beef cow.
Biodiversity, ecosystems, extinctions, climate, pollution, plastics, animal rights, sentience, anti-speciesism

Science, systemic change, individual action.

Of course I'm vegan, I'm a cow.
Pinned
I follow many people on here who aren't vegan, because they align with my other values & hopes for human society. I absolutely disagree with some of their lifestyle choices (for instance, I'd rather they didn't want to eat me) but that doesn't stop me from appreciating & learning from their wisdom❤️
Anyone up for shifting to a plant-based diet, significantly reducing your consumerism, & stopping flying yet? Because these are 3 actions that have to happen if a liveable Earth is going to have a hope in hell.

Individuals need to show Govts the way.

The costs of Direct Air Capture will not fall as much as hoped. "Efforts to reduce carbon emissions should therefore* continue at pace, says the research team."

*Therefore is problematic here, as it implies that if DACCS was cheap less reductions are needed. No, no, no.

And another day goes by where Govts haven't mandated plant-based diets - and people are too selfish to stop eating meat and dairy to show Govts the way towards making a swift, significant cut in greenhouse gas emissions.

Well that was a first today - a butterfly fluttering around the house, after several weeks of frosts 😱

Now relocated to a nicely sheltered spot in a log pile for their winter diapause (insect hibernation). Hope you survive the winter little one, see you in Spring ❤️🦋

Thanks to all the humans who consume beef & dairy, & buy leather, 330 MILLION cows are killed every year around the world. They're all as playful & inquisitive as Bruce & Evan, all slaughtered before they've lived a quarter of their natural life.

End the suffering. Go plant-based #plantbased #vegan
Evan and Bruce are so lucky to have each other. Thank you, farmsanctuary (IG), for taking them in and giving them all the care and love they need 🐮💚🐮

If you're livelihood, (home, health, family) are at risk due to climate change, why haven't you shifted to a plant-based diet and been vociferously campaigning for everyone else to do the same - or are you expecting some magical rainbow-maned pink unicorn tech-fix to save you?

The bipartisan REUSE Act has unanimously PASSED the Senate‼️

The global plastics problem is complex, but we know we need to reuse what we currently have AND make fewer plastics in the first place. Enter, REUSE Act:

✅ Environmental
✅ Uses and
✅ Sustainable

Humans, for all the time you've been kicking the climate can down the road, & $ billions you've been pouring into tech-fixes, you could've transitioned the entire human population onto an affordable plant-based food system, & rewilded 70% of land currently used for animal agriculture.
