Threw out my back yet again trying to put a large pineapple into my shopping trolley after paying at self check out. This may cancel my trip to the zoo for Jungle Bells tonight which was the only darned thing I was looking forward to this holiday season. This just sums up 2025.

Finished going through all the family papers for the spouse, now to finish what’s left of my parents’ stuff. Don’t know wha kind of letters your dad wrote you, but this was pretty typical from my dad…

Saw a sick looking gull in the fountain on our walk. On way back saw a mom and two kids trying to reach the bird and I just wanted to scream “never handle a sick bird!” But the security guard went over and took care of that.

The only cookie I like enough to bake myself is chocolate chip with nuts (and Sometimes coconut). So thank goodness no one wants me at the Christmas cookie exchange, lol. Usually keep dozens in the freezer and when the kids visit they go straight to the freezer for a cookie.

I don’t ever eat farmed salmon but I sure wouldn’t 🤢🤮 after reading this sequel to the Lewis Trilogy.

Does that make it a Quadrulogy?

Same. All the handwritten cards. I do crazy stuff like that and am so impressed she took the time and cared enough to make them each personal.
Y'all. I respected Taylor Swift before the doc, but now I respect her even more and I didn't even know that was possible.

I have been following Wes Jackson since my Mother Earth Magazine days in the ‘70’s. He is still working on this problem.
"Replacing annual plants with perennial varieties would massively reduce agriculture’s environmental impact...There is just one problem. Reliable, high-yielding perennial grain crops barely exist."
The root-ball comparison pics say a lot.

I hadn’t been in the mood for reading so feels good to finish a book. Interesting story/mystery set in a rather bleak near future. 💙📚

Here in SD I already have to get a referral from PCP for a specialist. Not as much in Lawrence, KS.
For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

For some reason I have a hankerin’ to don pajamas, head to the airport and share a boatload of holiday cookies. Can’t imagine why.

At Downtown Ace Hardware the delivery truck was properly parked outside the bike lane. I thanked the driver for not parking in the bike lane and he said “Oh, we would NEVER park in the bike lane.

And that’s how you do it.

Me: recites entire history of Quantrill’s raiders burning down the city and killing all the men and boys, KS a Free State MO a slave state and none of this has ever been forgiven when “yes” was probably all I needed to say.

I was baking the tofu shawarma and wandered off as I am wont to do. Of course it overcooked, but, dang, it turned into really good tofu jerky. I will probably never be able to reproduce it.

Saw the map of that earthquake off northern Japan and just knew Misawa AFB really got shaken up. From the videos “holy shit” seems to be the most popular expletive to use during a big earthquake. #earthquake
