He’s here 🩶🤍 Setzer was discharged today after more than a week in the ER. He’s pretty anxious & scared over being moved from his comfy, familiar stainless vet kennel to my wire crate, so I’ve got him covered with blankets & am giving him the night to settle. The whole vet team came to say goodbye 🥰

He’s here 🩶🤍 Setzer was discharged today after more than a week in the ER. Yesterday was a little hectic. We had 5 cats at 4 vet clinics yesterday for different things, some surgical—
Rudolph went for a really tough neuter because he was a double cryptorchid (video: babysitter Wasabi caring for him on his return)

Yesterday was a little hectic. We had 5 cats at 4 vet clinics yesterday for different things, some surgical—
Rudolph went for a really tough neuter because he was a double cryptorchid (video: babysitter Wasabi caring for him on his return)

When Laguna first arrived, he had a hard time figuring out he was allowed to take up space— he was always near and loved affection, but didn’t understand he could cuddle, either with the other kittens or people.
Safe to say he has now mastered this skill!

I have this vid Setzer’s vet sent behind a “graphic” tag because it shows his amputation & sutured wounds (clean & in a vet setting, not gory, but still can be hard for some to see).
But I wanted to share it because:

We are still making very slow incremental progress with the snowbird kittens. We haven’t really had those big breakthrough moments you want to see like we did with the Sweet Treats, and Junco is very hissy when I approach. But they’re giving more soft body language and relaxing more, even for pets.

Kyle came to us last summer after surviving a coyote attack. Because he was bitten, he had to complete a six-month rabies quarantine. When he passed quarantine, our staff went all out with a graduation party. There were banners. Party hats. Stickers. Kyle trivia. And yes, a graduation cap & gown

Morning Setzer update: nothing new overnight, he’s doing ok, everything is stable & about the same.
As for me, I’ve been sick as a dog all weekend after working outside in the bitter cold, so I’m taking the day to be a congested lump on the couch with Laguna for company. He’s the absolute cutest.

Setzer made it through his latest wound procedure. He was cold coming out of anesthesia again & then popped a fever but seems to have stabilized. He had some food & also some nasty diarrhea, probably from going under anesthesia 4 times in 4 days, the poor boy. He had a drain placed. Here’s hoping.🤞❤️

Setzer went in this morning to have the wounds on his other leg re-evaluated and stitched back together. He has a guarded prognosis, unfortunately there’s necrotic tissue in the muscle. But his temp has been stable & his appetite has been good, so she said there’s a chance, so we’re trying for him.

This boy was still high as a kite after his amputation & really spinning in the kennel but he paused to have some kibbles which is an encouraging sign. I’m really worried for the other leg. It’s full of holes & I hope they can find a solution for it. He was trilling & meowing at me. He’s a good boy.

Setzer made it out of his amputation surgery but he had a lot of difficulty maintaining his body temp during and afterward. His remaining leg is also full of infected wounds & he will be having a second procedure at a later time to address them again (they were sutures but came undone). Touch & go 😔
