Really sick & tired having to move from site to site when CEOs inevitably decide that free speech means protecting doxxing & harassment of persecuted groups by those connected to the powerful, and that there there isn't a trans person they wouldn't throw under a bus for a $ and mock while doing so.
Amazing breakfast this morning. I love waffles

...survive becoming just another propaganda-spreading, bot-infested troll site like X or Facebook. Especially since bots won't pay subscriptions.

Probably done after this Bluesky falls. I should use time spent doomscrolling on more productive endeavors, anyway.

See y'all in bookstores & museums. 👋🏻
Unless Bluesky changes their leadership and this direction on content moderation, they're headed down the path Musk & Zuckerberg took.

But this site is not big enough or profitable, and there are too few corporate brands/sports teams for people follow, and their base skews left so they won't...

Bari Weiss' only talent is telling billionaire oligarchs what they want to hear dressed as dangerous truth. Her obsequious sycophancy for the oligarchs and appeal to their existing prejudices is the only value she has. Without them propping her up, she wouldn't have a career.

Last year, CNN ran a “fact check” of Kamala HQ that claimed we were lying for saying Trump’s plan is Project 2025.

Now Trump is outright admitting it’s his plan.

Legacy media failed the country.

Looks like they launched it as an EV sub-brand, announced in 2023 and the crossover Electra E5 first went on sale as a 2025 model in 2024.

Can't find anything on an Electra before that, but there's the language barrier and the new model might be crowding out any other search results.
Unable to ignore the marketing potential, Buick is using the Electra name on an extended-range electric vehicle.

We just won't see it here in the U.S. anytime soon.

Kinda want to convert a classic Buick Electra to an EV, if GM would make their equipment available to the aftermarket...

I can’t begin to tell you how damaging “the world isn’t fair, get used to it” line has been to every child’s psyche growing up and therefore has led to a world that stays unfair. If we teach children to get used to an unfair world, we are destroying the possibility of a better world.
It's National Name Your Car Day!

Here's Molly, my Ford Maverick, named for the load carrier in Deep Rock Galactic.

The artistic flare of a vintage racing poster. The jetlag I'm experiencing means I get to enjoy it at 1am 👌
These classic colors that made the whole Smart car thing worth it. Not Little Tikes approved advertising, but too good not to bend a post rule. This one even has appropriate wheels!

Factoid: Exotic though a Mustang II might’ve been in the UK back in 1978 it also typified the ‘Malaise Era’ of US cars which were slow, heavy & laden with dubious styling ‘features’…

I have the privilege of working with fed agency folks. They've been jerked around, forced to move, had offices taken, lost resources, put on leave, fired, re-hired, *shot at*, and now furloughed. Still they return each day to help make America a bit more informed, healthier, and safer.

Factoid: Oct used to be ‘motor show month’ & here’s your reminder they’ll be plenty of such period ads over the next few wks.

Here’s a gd example from 1951 though for British show visitors this was a rare chance of seeing a TD as all but 1,656 cars of the 30k made headed overseas…

I continue to think that one of the reasons this country is falling apart is the wholesale abandonment of public virtue as a broadly shared aspiration. Or even something people should be embarrassed about if they don’t have it.

now is as good a time as ever to read what I can only describe as the polar opposite to @niedermeyer.online’s “Ludicrous”, which is basically “Uncut Gems” for OEMs

the LS was and still is a completely insane engineering project and I will never not love them because of it
