Some thinky thinks.

When I was 18, a family friend said I was "obviously not a genius" to my face, so take what I say with a grain of salt 😝

Just closed my LinkedIn account. For those curious, here is why.

Couldn't even fit all the reasons on one page.

Links in alt text. Some of the alt text was so long, I continued it in a reply (due to character limits for alt text).

Things that improved my lower back pain hugely:

- raising my desk, so my back is straight + vertical while I'm writing / on my laptop

- getting a portable lap desk (example pictured) to put on top of regular desks so that I could keep my back straight + upright

- crouching instead of bending over

And this letter from Epstein seems to have been written to Larry Fucking Nassar! (US Olympics gymnastics team doctor convicted of sexual abuse)

Apparently many hugely awful people know / knew each other PERSONALLY

People like Trump and his friends and cronies are cruel in *many* ways
The Trump administration will begin seizing the pay of people in default on their student loans in the new year.

Starting January 7th, the Department of Education will start withholding a chunk of the wages from some student loan borrowers in default.

"Our president also shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to "grab snatch," whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system.

Life is unfair.

Yours
J. Epstein"

I've also had my work *stolen*

I *did* work hard on those written pieces, then the company *changed the author's name*

I learned the cost of filing an IP claim would not be worth the potential payout

The system of *laws and fines* doesn't incentivize working hard in this case, or working at all
So it's not that "we don't want to work anymore", per se.

It's that abusive, controlling, dishonest, greedy, at times charming CEOs and managers have hurt us, disillusioned us, burnt us out.

And then they pretend we are the ones to blame.

Where we can afford to, we are rejecting that treatment.
Other poor working conditions I've seen:

- required to be in multiple, endless, very distracting chats
- using the CEO's clearly inefficient way of assigning tasks
- saying they believe in Agile then making massive changes during a sprint
- throwing you in the deep end with nearly no support

A little surprised how much *all* 8 of the following seem to be part of the lives of those actively helping and participating in the current authoritarian regime in the USA:

- non-medicinal drugs
- desire for attention
- desire for money
- religiosity
- stupidity
- bullying
- cruelty
- apathy

Gotta give credit to the christian church for using a fun group activity that inevitably makes your message sticky (singing)

Pity about everything else though

If you cannot find it in your heart to feel compassion for an adult, try feeling compassion for the child inside them, and for the child they used to be.

🧐 Not sure how these redactions related to money transfers in the Epstein files were justified:
drive.google.com/drive/folder...

I did not unredact these files myself. I found the link on Reddit (www.reddit.com/r/law/commen...), which funnily enough apparently came from Bluesky originally

I took 3 days off from my smartwatch, smartphone, and computer.

😱 I was surprised by how much energy I had
🧹 🪛 I got SO much done around the house
🧠 I had a bunch of creative thoughts / solutions

It seems technology had been stealing more of my time and energy than I had noticed.

Got a mortgage in Spain in 2024. The bank cared about our employment statuses, rather than credit history. The idea of "credit history" isn't really a thing here, according to my Spanish partner.
