ICYMI, 🦋 #bskySPEECHIES #devlangdis #childspeechdis #SLCN Parents aren’t too lazy to talk to their children, explains a #teacher: “They care so much about their children, but their priority is meeting their basic needs. They are working incredibly hard just to keep them clothed and fed and safe.”

Two-thirds of children at risk of exclusion have speech and communication needs. My @london-vru.bsky.social is addressing this with oracy interventions in primary school.

In just one year, it has led to 98% of children narrowing the gap to their peers and 60% meeting vocabulary standards.

A new initiative aims to improve communication, as as pupils lacking speech and language skills more likely to be excluded and caught up in violence

I guess it shows two things- how much more work we need to do to highlight the benefits of EBP interventions to parents and how parents will get desperate if they are not able to access #SLT services.
