I survived the Great Summerville FoamFest of 2025 😅 It was great seeing both 630 and 4501 doublehead a train - both engines put on a splendid show!

Lots of things going on now that I’m in Georgia! Below is a thread of images from my most recent travels!

Sights include:
-Southeastern Railway Museum
-Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad
-North Georgia Live Steamers
A classic line marks the side of Atlantic Coast Line business car #307 at the Southeastern Railway Museum. The car is painted in the colors of the short-lived New Georgia Railroad. GE 50-ton switcher #3 and SW7 #8202 sit outside of the Southeastern Railway Museum’s display areas. Both engines are used for short train rides around the property. Savannah & Atlanta 4-6-2 #750 (built by ALCO in 1910) is a star attraction of the museum, after enjoying a long career in regular passenger service and as part of the Southern Railway steam program. A Miniature Train Company G-16 circles part of the museum grounds. This train (and a sister set) used to work at the Birmingham Zoo before coming to the museum.

I don’t post photos of myself very much, but here’s a look at me volunteering at the South Carolina Railroad Museum this past weekend. 😊🚂
Giving the traditional call of “Y’ALL ABOARD!” as we board passengers for one of the Blue Granite Express trips. During the ride, I relay the history of the railroad and local area to the passengers. While waiting for the passengers of our BBQ Dinner Train to finish eating at Rion Quarry, I take some time to “talk shop” with Robert - another dedicated volunteer.

On the Rockton, Rion & Western, there are two beautiful structures that visitors can see during the ride.

One is a sharecropper’s cabin and the other is the Greenbrier School, made out of Winnsboro Blue Granite.
Sharecropper’s Cabin at Summit The Greenbrier School, built in 1941 from Winnsboro Blue Granite. Decommissioned in 1981, it was later turned into a private residence. The current owner is a music teacher who works for the University of South Carolina.

Another year, another Spencer Shops Train Show in the books! Got to see lots of trains and met some new friends 😎🚂

Norfolk & Western GP9 #620 sits with its train at Barber Junction as a light rain falls on Saturday. Parked on a siding is a rare diesel: a Baldwin AS-616 built for the original Norfolk Southern Railway. Behind it is an original NS caboose, made from an old boxcar. The massive backshops building is the main venue for the train show, with vendors selling many items and layouts on display!
