As the former Greek PM has published a book and some (though fortunately not many) seem to still admire him and think he could have been re-elected had he used the liquidity support from the ESM (which they call pillow) to buy votes please find below his government's request for stability support...

The mental gymnastics some people are doing to not accept any evidence works against them is sometimes terrifying.

To my understanding the public health care system in Greece is quickly converging to a US type care where many do cease having access and private insurance companies will grab a big part of the healthcare money.

Haven't seen worse arguments in a "statistics" books written by non-statisticians (but yea, I haven't seen many of those either) 😐

The common denominator for both a choosing a good friend as well as a choosing an author is trust, but surely not a complete overlap on the qualities someone is looking for on both.

Possibly controversial opinion: Shame can be beneficial even if not linked to someone's' individual actions.
The feeling of shame for antisocial behaviours observed more often on someone's community could contribute to a better calibrated behaviour.

As I get older I tend to believe more and more that best predictor of future wealth/social status is family's wealth / connections.

When I heard about Watson's death I couldn't help it but think about the insane person who was going to attack him with an anarchist flag

(happened in a lecture theatre in Patras, Greece in 2011)

Say we bought 80,000 boxes that contain 25 products each. We found out that in 8 of the boxes there are at least 50% or more defective products. Assume defects equiprobable for each product.

What is a good estimate of the defect rate?
