The ICE detention facility in Broadview Illinois is at 1930 Beach Street.
The arrow shows where crowd control fencing has been erected.
ICE vehicles must use Harvard Street.
That’s where we protest.
It’s ongoing 24/7 but Fridays are the big day, as early as 4:00am and throughout the day.

She stood in front of an ICE vehicle in clouds of tear gas with pepper ball bursting all around, an agent violently threw her to the ground.
When the tear gas cleared she sat at that same spot and took out her knitting.
She’s a bad-ass punk woman!

It’s tempting to look at this and hear the David Bowie lyric “This is not America”, but it is, on a Friday morning, in a suburb of Chicago.
We stood holding signs and flags, chanting and singing.
ICE tear gassed us, shot us with pepper balls, physically attacked us.
This is America, that is me.

What did she do when the gas cleared?
She sat in front of the ICE barbed wire gate and pulled out her yarn and knitted.
That is a bad-ass punk woman.

moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

Went with my son to @chrislhayes.bsky.social book event tonight (Chicago). It felt like a social movement was born, and he led it. People just stood up and clapped forever. When he said, "Don't give up," I falsely denied having tears in my eyes. Thank you. Can't wait to read THE SIRENS' CALL.

If the U.S. government shut down over the budget bill, in these current conditions, many essential services would never return when a budget bill is passed.
And the Republicans would strengthen their hand against our government.

My coworker was the only one in his vehicle that could move. Badly injured, he bandaged and saved his friends.
Donald Trump wants to stop caring for these guys. Trump wants to gut the Veterans Administration and cut the medical care they give to veterans.
