I recently completed a clinical education dissertation that asked members of the #transgender, #nonbinary and gender non-conforming community what they wanted doctors to know about their healthcare. I then carried out a thematic analysis to identify 15 main themes (1/18)

I made a joke in my main Discord server about DOOM E1M1 being in a major key and @abigbagofkeys.sickonedude.com actually made it. Jesus fucking Christ listen to this hahahaha

Kicked off trans awareness week with an LGBT+ healthcare session for medical undergraduates alongside @traceycollett.bsky.social and the brilliant Emma Marsh. Always a pleasure to talk about trans+ care with such an engaged group who understand the value of inclusive and equitable healthcare

After a break I returned to academia in July, and I'm currently being allocated postgrad research supervisor roles.

It's hard to share the joy and enthusiasm new researchers have when they talk about their work. Makes me grateful I took the opportunity to come back.
I just had a lovely chat with a brand-new PhD in my field, and it's moments like this that make me glad to be an academic.

Bodily autonomy should always be a societal norm. I still can't understand how anyone feels they have the right to dictate this stuff to anyone. My body, my choice.
u should be able to just get HRT freely and if u want/need it then ur material conditions are different to those who do not this is not complex stuff!!

I thought I'd do a test stream of some ambient noodlings last night. On the DL since it's the first one and could be messy.

And it was indeed very messy. In part because this guy decided to make himself one with the Model:Samples for the duration. Made things a bit more tricky than necessary.

GIRES has agreed to endorse this research recruitment study to understand how psychological therapy for trans people can be improved. This project has been developed closely with trans people with lived experience of mental health difficulties.

I am going to have to look up what dignity and respect are, because this isnt how I understood the meaning of those words
Streeting confirmed that he will push trans women into "third spaces", saying that his plans for segregation are based on "respect" and "empathy".

Also I really like this figure for making a crucial point of the study - trans kids' identities are roughly as stable as cis kids' identities.

Chiitan loves all transgender people.
I've received a lot of criticism for expressing my support, but what's more important is that all transgender people live happy lives.
Blue Sky cannot display long posts, so please read this post if you'd like.

Having a research page that shares my publication record seems so innocuous, but it also essentially outs me and tells people my deadname and I don't know how I feel about that. I'm really proud of some of the work I've been involved in, but work colleagues don't need such cursed knowledge

When I look back at the guidance that came with my GRC as to how I should expect to be treated in law I wonder how on earth we have wandered so far from the light, and under the guidance of an organisation that is supposed to exist to protect my rights.
Note how this is a completely bonkers topsy-turvy version of what that Schedule 3, paragraph 28 exception was *actually* there for, and how trans people were *supposed* to be treated when it comes to single-sex services.

And yet, if you’re a trans person who passes, then you’re at even higher risk of also been banned from the only single-sex service that you *are* permitted to use (the one of your sex recorded at birth)

(This is from the draft code that the EHRC put out for consultation)

Really happy to see this statement. The EHRC guidance will make 'passing' the standard, and will in turn reinforce gender stereotypes. Only those who don't conform will be safe from the scrutiny, so it's good to see it being called out like this.
My governing body, the British Psychological Society (@bpsofficial.bsky.social) is also highly critical of the EHRC Code of Practice.
Thank you, BPS, for making this public statement.

Not saying I'm jaded and suspicious, but I've just been sent a link to an amazing sounding clinical resource and I don’t want to click on it because it feels like it'll end up being a phishing test by my IT dept
