Hi everyone! I'm an investigative reporter who's written for Mother Jones, CNBC, USATODAY, etc. I wanted to plug some of my work here but I’m open to any tips or leads especially here in the Bay Area and California. I made the move from DC to here, so feel free to send any recs!
It’s day one since yesterday’s arrival of federal agents inside the Alameda Coast Guard island. We saw earlier this morning at 7:44 am, FBI and other security personnel examining the scene from last night’s incident. They have blocked and barricaded the only entrance and exit point into the island.

Footage shows tensions rising outside a Coast Guard base in Alameda, where federal agents are reportedly staging.
At 12:41 pm, California Highway Patrol officers starting coming in asking protesters to keep a lane open for traffic to come through.
At 8:00 am, we continued to see more protesters come and some of them even joined in to pray right before the U.S. government property line started.
A few minutes later, four SUVs and trucks with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents came in as protesters barred the entrance. One agent came out and stood in front of the island’s entrance as he started pointing and shooting his flash bang gun at protesters and journalists in the crowd.
Around 7:05, 20 US Coast Guard Security forces lined up at the front entrance as more protesters showed up peacefully walking back and forth the sidewalks all around the Dennison and Embarcadero East intersection and blocking the entrance and exit point of Coast Guard Island.
We’ve been here reporting with @motherjones.com outside the Alameda Coast Guard Island here in Alameda, California. My co-reporter Ellie and I have been here since 4 am. Early on, we noticed one protester standing in the middle of the road and a few media outlets posted up. One

Pope Francis died on Monday at 88. His papacy promoted inclusivity, embracing survivors of sexual abuse by clergy members; LGBTQ Catholics; Muslim and Orthodox clerics; and leaders of developing nations, where he believed the church’s future was rooted.

Trump's so-called "DEI Purges" are nothing more than racist bigotry. There's no other way to describe it. In his new video, @garrisonhayes.bsky.social tells the stories of Black military heroes Trump just wiped from history.

Trump has devoted several minutes to attacking trans people

But only a fraction of a fraction of kids receive gender-affirming care, as @msjpauly.bsky.social reported. Why are R's so obsessed w/ an issue that affects such a small minority of Americans?
