It’s important to remember when I share opinions and thoughts on politics and the military, it is with the expertise of a trombone player in the National Guard. And I read a book by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
Looking for my library’s cassette tapes and came across a stash of mini books including a darling little collection of odes to big daddy Lenin.

My Christmas vibe? It’s pretty much Robert Smith playing cymbals.

Reminder about Jan 6:

it really happened
It was a horror
140+ police were injured
A range of violent weapons were used by attackers
Chants to hang Mike Pence were heard
There was a gallows and guns
Pipe bombs diverted police as mob approached

I’m glad they arrested someone for the attempted bombing on Jan 6. This means Trump is one step closer to pardoning everyone involved.

Sickening to hear anybody describe Trump as taking a bullet for this country when there are two National Guard members, one dead, one in the hospital, who actually took a bullet while he dismantles democracy and further divides us as a country.
Lee Zeldin: “Thank you, Mr. President, for being willing to take a bullet for this country…He is willing to take a bullet for all of you tuning in at home…I'm grateful this holiday season for you, Mr. President. You're willing to take a bullet for all of us.”

I spent 2 weeks in Australia and I still can’t tell you the Prime Minister’s name because there’s no Cult of Personality with flags and signs and stickers and hats. America isn’t well.

The Trump DOJ played down the risk of deploying the National Guard to DC, despite warnings, and now one of them is dead. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Place National Guard in harm’s way for no good reason. Two members are tragically and unnecessarily shot. The reckless regime’s response: We’re sending 500 more National Guard troops! What a disgrace.

This is a breaking story and details are still unknown, but the fact is they shouldn’t even be there. Responsibility for any damage, injury or death lies squarely with the Trump administration.

I have a feeling Trump is almost as happy to have us fighting about the military and unlawful orders as he would be to have the military actually attacking civilians.

Stores in Australia were playing Christmas music in early November. I wondered why they didn’t wait until after Thanksgiving like decent human beings, then I remembered they don’t have Thanksgiving. Those poor souls start in right after Halloween. No holiday buffer. Guess I’m thankful for that.

Reading about this policy change leaves me with one question: How many people currently in or trying to join the USCG have swastika tattoos?
"The Coast Guard will no longer classify the swastika as a hate symbol.

"Instead, the Coast Guard will classify the Nazi insignia as 'potentially divisive' under its new guidelines.

"The new policy similarly downgrades the definition of nooses and the Confederate flag."

U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

/3 Asserting the (legally correct) point that members of the military may refuse illegal orders is not conspiring to overthrow the government or hinder the laws by force.

You can tell because if it were seditious conspiracy Trump would be pardoning it.
