Hello mecha fans. I'm a #BeamSaber GM (mecha&pilot TTRPG using FitD ruleset) and I'm looking for awesome scenes from anime/movies depicting your favourite mecha battles or "vibes". Trying to inspire myself. Get myself PUMPED UP. Got any recs, or even youtube links? Real Robot style referred. Love ya

Just want to profusely thank the person who thought vaping in the library was a GREAT IDEA for the 30 minutes I've had to spend in the freezing cold today with a megaphone and a walkie talkie while we evacuate an entire university building.

Another day of feeling so overwhelmed by my To-Do list that I will simply stare into the void. Rinse and repeat. Carpe this diem.

This morning I poured my coffee beans into the water reservoir of my coffee machine instead of into the adjacent grinder. It's a miracle I made it to work at all.

I really hate it when websites don't let me SEE my password as I enter it. My password is complicated and I am clumsy. I have to open a text document instead and type it up there so I can see it, then copy.

Fear of academic misconduct allegations from AI useage among university students - some are so scared of accidentally using AI that they won't use RefWorks and we've had at least one report of a student not wanting to find resources on Primo LibrarySearch because they thought it was generative AI.

ChatGPT can't even get basic facts about Fargo (1996) right, but it gave me the wrong answers very confidently. If you don't know about something, AI is not the place to ask. If you've been enjoying AI lately, ask it about something you know. Watch it fumble. Lose faith. This is the way.

My poor broken bike. Hamish, my 2009 Honda CBF600, took a low impact spill on some unexpected black ice quite some time ago and has been in the garage ever since. I feel overwhelmed by the amount of fixes (he was never in primo condition anyway) but I really do need to get wrenching again!!

And this is why librarians are almost always the #1 champions of Open Access - because we run up against these brick walls of commercial enclosure and artificial scarcity ALL THE DAMN TIME, and if it frustrates users, for us ou can multiple that by 1000%.
Today's early Spring semester reminder that if your academic library doesn't have an eBook you want and/or tells you they can't provide it, it is most likely not the library staff's fault.

This year I am going on a seven week hike along the GR11 (hiking the Spain/France border coast to coast, wild camping where possible) and I want to commemorate the event with a new watch. I have earmarked this Casio Gshock (solar powered, radio controlled time) and wow, I am very excited.

This right here! Academic textbooks used to be much more widely available as eBook versions and easy to provide, but publishers are pushing a "1:1 eTextbook model", whereby the institution has to buy one eBook for every student on the course, which can costs tens of thousands. (1/2)

K-POP Demon Hunters was amazing. My only complaint was that it ended too quickly, which is a much better complaint than something dragging on. I laughed and I cried and I danced. On a long train journey. On my phone with earbuds.

This is definitely my experience. Students are also finding AI Generated content posted to ResearchGate and using it in their assignments.

I was shady towards #TheBeastInMe. It is uneven, it is heavy handed, it is not subtle. But it was fun!! A blast. Guilty pleasure 💯. I mean, I watch ‘90s Melrose Place… I have no right to be judgy about anything.

Ditch Spotify. Pay artists. Redistribute wealth. Stop war. Happy Christmas!
