One time a while ago someone referenced something that happened in a video game, and I wasn't familiar with the specific thing. I asked them "oh, what happened?" and they told me to google it. Guys. Don't do that. Tell people the things you know. We're humans, we can exchange information and ideas.

One of the things about being in a 20+ year old community is that every once in a while you bump up against a person who *still* thinks an extremely esoteric in-joke from 20+ years ago is the height of comedy and you silently scream inside your mind "nobody knows what you're talking about."

A few years ago I wrote this arrangement of “The Measure of His Reach” from Stormblood as a way of exploring its post-colonial themes to through an Indian lens. Not a lot of FFXIV music out there that is not pure cover or closely hewn; hope this inspires arrangers to explore a bit more.

I hadn't given much thought to the actual philosophy behind the "empathy is bad, actually" movement, because the people espousing it are so transparently anti-human that I never thought of it as having more depth than wolves having the philosophy "Sheep are tasty".
