Kinda insane to think just how much detail is lost in these old film to TV transfers. The DVD one looks so dark and soft compared to the film scan.

It's like going from VHS to Blu-ray in a snap.

Yesterday, I found a high-end Dell Precision M6300 laptop in relatively mint condition complete with everything from a leather bag, accessories and even a sealed Win XP SP2 install all for just 10 bucks.

It's arguably the wildest flea market find I've ever done. Only had to change CMOS and paste.

Screen setting sin Swedish showing the included NVIDIA GPU set to 1920 x 1200 screen resolution at 32-bit color depth. A sealed copy of Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 in Swedish with Dell branding in front.

And also, even the entire Streets of Rage trilogy on the Mega Drive are like an argument for how much better the console is at BMUPs with its CPU being better at handling multiple enemies at once.

I haven't played the FF sequels on SNES, but FF1 on SNES is mid, and doesn't do the original justice.

There are worse ways of playing the game, but as far as home consoles are concerned this might be the worst way of playing Final Fight.

The Sega CD version, despite enemy encounters being compromised is much better in many ways. Better graphics, sound (especially the OST) and core gameplay.

Overall, whether it's the visuals with limited animations, odd color selections and lack of transitions, the flat toy-sounding music, compromised game design and encounters or the lack of a Two-Player mode this version of Final Fight is a far from ideal way of playing the game.

I'm just surprised to see that all the strats found in the arcade original are also present in this one though.

Mainly infinites, which works the same way. Or would've had it not been for the brief hitching ruining my inputs. The same strats I did on bosses also work.

The encounters are also different and less fun, whether it's due to Capcom being incompetent with the hardware in this game particular or just the SNES' CPU the amount of enemies at once are minimal. Maybe about 3 or so at once coming in a sort of cavalcade. Even then the game slows down. Lmao.

I can't stress enough how unresponsive and laggy the game feels. There's always one moment where the game decides to suddenly freeze up for a millisecond fucking up your inputs, and times where you just can't do a punch. The hitboxes and such being slightly different also messes with the game feel.

Taking a break from 1CC-ing Final Fight, I decided to try out the SNES version of the game.

I didn't expect it to be the same as the Arcade original, but man it's such a downgrade. Aside from some more obvious ones such as visuals and sound, it also just plays and feels worse to play.

(3/3) In short, I see gatekeeping as sort of a control to see if you're elegible to pass through the "gate". And the gatekeeper's requirements can either be smart or dumb.

Whether it's hobbies or important matters, everyone wants in. But the unfortunate reality is that not everyone can get in.

(2/3) One example I like to think of is photography. To say you aren't a "real photographer" if you use your smartphone is dumb, and not a good way of gatekeeping.

However, depending on certain aspects it can become a good thing. You need a proper camera for focal range and great image quality.

(1/3) I've been thinking a bit about gatekeeping, and people's generally negative attitude towards it as if it's a bad thing no matter what.

I get there are dumb things to be gatekeeping, but at the same time it's a necessary evil for certain things. Even within hobbies and art.
