If LessWrong rewrote the Serenity prayer:

The Litany of Serenity

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
[The box doesn't have a diamond]

Courage to change the things I can
[I can put something else in the box]

and Wisdom to know the difference
[between your box and my box]

“Guard every breath for it carries the warmth and moisture of your life,” he said.""
Human podcasters have to talk a lot
What happens when you talk a lot? That's right. You get thirsty. You drink water

AI generated podcasts solve this flagrant water waste
Finally somebody is doing something about the podcast shortage

Hmmm. Feels like what drives a lot of "ugh this feels written by an LLM" is that it picks up some interesting construction "it's not just x, it's y" or the rule of three and then absolutely hammers it to death

The meme cycle taken to extreme but without the natural variation of updates from others

Fish don't pass the mirror test because when they look in the mirror and see a mark on their fishy face what are they going to do?

They don't have arms.

I used to have dreams that PGP signatures would be a thing, obviously never happened. But with AI slop perhaps it might take off? Key signing ceremonies to prove you're real and then signing your comments etc to prove a human wrote it? Would people still not care enough

Do you think Tom Cruise would be better or worse if he wasn't a Scientologist?

All accounts of people who work with him speak glowingly of his work ethic, and film crew and cast all seem to love him

"You are battling humans who eat apathy and coordination problems"

See it all the time in banking fraud as well - person working for paycheck is less motivated than the fraudster working for payout
A commonly-misunderstood aspect of computer security is that you are battling computers.

No. That is not right at all. Computers are barely involved.

You are battling humans who eat apathy and coordination problems.

"Here's to another great year!"

Greg passed away in April. Great job Facebook. Difficult to solve I know, but the number of RIP posts should have been a hint. And maybe cool it with the suggested messages?

It's something I'm really struggling with at the moment, is this sense that everything is solved and only requires application of my time. And I don't want to use my time doing those things"
