The vox pops on ITV yesterday were interesting - even those who weren't too keen on the govt didn't want a change of leader. Not surprising when they remember the chaos of the Tories changing leader every 5 mins.

There seems to be almost an addiction to political chaos in the media. A lust for drama and headlines. Britain needs stability. There's no doubt that Starmer's government has made mistakes, but the answer is for them to improve, not throw the country into turmoil.

It seems people have forgotten how much the Tories used to get (rightly) criticised for the constant changing of PMs and other senior figures. If another leader faces similar problems what then? Another change?
It would be nice if we could have a PM who lasts more than a few months, frankly. Dunno about you lot, but I am tired of politics being a constant exhausting drama driven by hot takes, newsletter posts, lobby corrs interviewing other lobby corrs, gossip and memes.

Hello! Just the first day of the rest of my life today...

Taking some time out of work after 26 years non-stop and the past few years not quite going as I hoped. Planning to make some life changes, relocate and hopefully live more, work less. Not too much to ask is it?

So, for probably the first time in my life, I’m taking a risk. After over 25 years working non-stop and feeling pretty exhausted for the last few years, I'm taking some time out to reflect, refresh and decide what to do with the rest of my life. A bit scary but I think I've got to try.
February 9, 2026 at 8:52 AM
Yes I think that's exactly it.

It sounds attractive but I'm not sure how it would work in practice. Would it only be switching parties or when someone resigns to become an independent? What if someone is forcibly thrown out from a party? The system could be gamed either way.

I think I saw a poll not long ago when he was the highest rated of our living former PMs, but people didn't seem to appreciate him at the time. Dumping Brown for Cameron really was the UK's Sliding Doors moment.

As a #childfree person... fuck off.

Ironic that the right are now concerned about falling birth rates when the policies they promote have done a lot to discourage people from having children.

Absolutely. I don't think they'll be sorry to see the back of those who've gone but they don't have the personnel to take the party back to (relative) normality.

Indeed. Logic says it won't happen but anything is possible.

The one I can't see is Johnson. They hate each other.

According to Farage today, Trump didn't really mean it. That's OK then.

15 minute cities has always been a particularly weird conspiracy theory. "I don't want facilities near to me" is an odd hill to die on....

Yep!

It would do a lot for Reform's 'credibility' if they rejected her. But they probably wouldn't.

Me neither. The NRA don't do logic or consistency.

I've had a lot of time for Andy Burnham in the past but agree it is hard to justify re-running the Manchester Mayor election at the moment. He could have stood down last time and will have the chance to do so again before the next GE if that's what he wants.

Politically, that would be logical but I'm not sure it comes naturally to her.
