What anthology has helped you discover some great new (to you) writers this year?

You don't want to see my ranked list of which Star Wars movies are best because I think Andor is a crashing bore and The Last Jedi is an abomination and an insult to the character of Luke and the actor who portrays him.

I've decided to become a wizard, build myself a tower, and study arcane and forgotten volumes for the rest of my days.

I already have the beard for it.

Abolish ICE. Investigate every last agent. Prosecute Bovino for Perjury.
THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

A book was on sale with very fast same day shipping at Amazon and against my better judgement I bought it.

The package arrived a day late. The book was shipped in a flimsy, oversized brown-paper envelope and was damaged in two places.

And that's what I get for shopping at Amazon.

Why don't white wizards wear hats? Gandalf the Grey was like 90% hat, and then suddenly he's too good for one.

F&SF (and it's sibling publications Analog and Asimov's through it's shared publisher MRM) continue their attempt to strong-arm writers into signing deeply problematic contracts.

Don't believe the cheery SFWA press releases about contract progress and ongoing dialogue etc. These contracts are bad.
Did you read my post from last week about how contract woes caused me to withdraw an accepted story from F&SF, ending my 54-year quest to be published in that magazine? But wait (as the saying goes) — there's more! Scroll down at the link for an update. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

Impossible to say how much Gary Numan and his music has meant to me over the years. Any GenXer will know. He broke down emotionally on stage the other night after receiving bad news. I'm really pulling for him. Cheering for you, Gary.

This is not Trump's typical political persecution, and it is not a distraction. It's a strategic maneuver. If there's an ongoing investigation, the DOJ/FBI cannot release the Epstein files. Expect the investigation to go on forever.

Outling the third novelette in a series. Sometimes writing feels like a form of self-punishment.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

But I was told by forced-birth advocates that it was all about states rights...
Senate update: Republicans are now trying to sneak a backdoor national abortion ban into their government funding bill. Republicans will stop at nothing to control women's health care decisions.

Insightful review of Pluribus, the new series on Apple TV+ from Vince Gilligan.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.
