Downtown could have "like, a 10-foot wall" where people could talk to AI versions of historical figures. "How cool would this be if we had like, a 10 foot wall. It's interactive and it's historical. And you could talk to Martin Luther King."...

Every line is an applause line with this crowd. It's so interesting to see Harrell deal with a friendly audience in a familiar setting (the WAC) without anyone challenging him in any way. Mayor Friendly emerges, a huge contrast from the contempt and rudeness he shows when his opponent is present.

Democrats don’t believe protest is patriotic, tho. They believe obedience is patriotic. They beat the shit out of, arrested, deported and blacklisted college students, staff and faculty over Gaza. For a year and a half!

Democrats need to go as hard branding protest as patriotism as Republicans are labeling it all insurrection.

“The frogman is hurting our cause” lmao the frogman isn’t hurting the cause as much as you sitting around bitching doing nothing except criticizing how others are protesting while you sit on your ass. Wanna protest how YOU want to? No one’s stopping you…now hop to it!

Battling history? No, just a single dude throwing a baseball and some other dudes behind him.

I feel like Mariners fans are already primed for failure.
Emotionally ready for the Mariners game? This story will help. In rare Mariners Game 5, Seattle battles history ALDS Game 5: A Mariners win is the only acceptable outcome. Mariners playoff run hits hard for Seattle fans grieving loved ones

It does not do that. It's from centuries after the event it purports to describe. It's already cool that we can read the scroll, and the contents are fascinating. Pretending it's more than that, and that it's definitive proof of anything is simply lying to your readers.

I don't think most attendees are fully aware of the danger. Threats from the government + rising right-wing violence is not reflected in mainstream coverage. One of the many ways the media is failing us right now.

GOP is stoking the stochastic terrorism flames, calling it a hate rally and an act of terrorism. These are messages to their followers to act. I'm frankly terrified that there's going to be a mass attack, or multiple attacks, and am on the fence about attending.
davidstoesz.bsky.social
what with the president and his minions declaring us terrorists and threatening us with death. Like, they literally said they will do to us what they did to those Venezuelans on boats.

I have to confess I'm really worred about security at the No Kings thing. Despite the many vehicle attacks on demonstrations (including one in Seattle in 2020 that resulted in a death of someone I knew), at the last one SPD did not block intersections. And now it's so much more fraught,

For our fourth installment of “Harrell's Big Business Backers,” we present Jon Shirley, a former Microsoft big wig who lives in a 27,000 sq ft mansion in Medina, owns a $200M art collection, and has an entire 12,000 sq ft showroom just for his cars. Shirley donated $15K to Harrell.
A graphic emulating a baseball card with a headshot of Job Shirley on a green background with floating dollar bills, showing he donated $15,000
The back of the baseball card graphic with bulleted points that reads: former president, Chief operating officer, and board of director of Microsoft; lives in Medina in a $27,000 ft estate near Bill Gates and other billionaires; built a 12,000 ft showroom near his mansion for his sports car collection; amassed a $200 million art collection. what he's buying - low taxes for the wealthy.

Who do we mean when we say “Black Seattle”?

This mayoral race isn’t about personalities—it’s about whether symbolism becomes substance. What do “seats at the table” mean if the rest of us go hungry?

I’m a Wilson supporter in *spite* of this piece. Housing first and harm reduction are not just annoying leftist slogans that don’t play well with normies. They are evidence-based solutions that no true progressive should ever back down from.
