What appears to be a Jack of Clubs (club top left). Jack in brown tunic with fleur de lis and belt, aqua leggings, tan cape, holding a green sword and aqua-and-white shield. To right reads S.T.A.B. Lx.

Castle by the sea in Brittany
#photography #monochrome #ClassicMono #bnwphotography #bnw #blackandwhite #bretagne #brittany #EastCoastKin
Black-and-white photograph of a castle-like building constructed on a promontory directly by the sea. A seagull flies across the cloudy sky, and the waves of the sea appear dramatically white and contrasting.

France in the 1880s, Jules Ferry on the knee-jerk delusive patriotism of Boulangism: “a noisy, despicable creed that seeks not to unify…but to set citizens against one another…If one believes its spokesmen, love of country belongs to one party alone or to only one sect within that party”

In a bit of an artistic block. Not worried though, like I used to be, it is just a shift in direction usually. Waiting it out is resulting in frantic gardening, cleaning and cooking.

Painting titled Brainwave.
Brainwave painting, wiggly worms of light revealing a face.

Asta Nielsen at home, early 20s ish

♥️ the lavish clutter of that era; would give the Kondos etc. a heart attack
publicity postcard with Nielsen in some kind of day gown, sitting on an armchair close to a table on which she rests one elbow, there are heavy drapes and carpets Nielsen lying on a day bed, in a room with heavy drapes and carpets, endless footstools etc.

On smaller boats there are removable keels but also retractable. There's a boat (log canoe) that used to be used for fishing but now for racing. They use a retractable centerboard. A pretty interesting rig as well though today they have massive sails so capsize easily.

Seductive blonde in green pegnoir sits on a haddock, her right hand caressing her 50s hair style. She’s wearing mules with daisies on them asking the viewer ‘Like my daisy?’

Whose sky is this,
in silver hush and nameless sway?
I am the sigh the mountain keeps,
the pulse, the air that stirs when silence sleeps..

No border knows my open claim,
no hand can grasp or gift my name.
I am the endless, unspoken flow,
the space where all beginnings go.
Then I’ll breathe where your words fade—
