Martin, an 18-year-old citizen and soccer player, traveled with his Madison-area team to Minneapolis for a Futsal tournament (which my kid's team was going to play in, then opted out). While there, ICE stopped Martin and took his mom, who has been detained since.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but every Somali I represent in immigration court currently (8 of them) have today had their hearings cancelled and their judges reassigned. They're now all assigned to a video judge from Louisiana and scheduled for court hearing in one month. 🧵

My kids went to a home daycare run by a Somali woman who could not have loved them more and is now a treasured family friend. I have to tell you, my reaction to these people specifically acting as though “Somali daycare” is automatically code for fraud is, like, tasting colors levels of fury.

The two children who returned to MN today say they saw one of their Valley View schoolmates at a detention center in TX. This is a child whose family was last in contact with the school on January 9. No one has known where they were until now.
