1. Today, Senate Democrats showed spine, and killed a national transgender sports ban bill via filibuster.

Not a SINGLE Democrat voted for cloture.

Senate Dems Show Spine, And National Sports Ban Bill Dies
The failed legislation reflects a wider effort to disallow trans women (or anyone suspected of being a trans woman) from women’s sports and spaces.

They are going to ignore court orders.

If they ignore court orders, the social contract is dead and buried, the constitution is no longer in effect.

It's a rubicon that cannot be uncrossed.

This is devastating for universities, hospitals, science, health, and innovation.
🚨RED ALERT for 🧪:

The Trump NIH just gashed indirect costs. This is a direct attack on universities.

“Pursuant to this Supplemental Guidance, there will be a standard rate of 15% across all NIH grants for indirect costs.” 😮

Just a devastating Friday night news dump. #scicomm #academicaky

One thing I really admire about this @rodger.bsky.social post criticizing the NCAA re: trans athletes is that he states super clearly that he used to be swayed by ”fairness” arguments, and he's not anymore
The spineless cowardice of the NCAA's anti-trans swerve
A decade ago, the NCAA stood up on trans issues. Now that trans people are under attack, they've given in to bigots.

Erasing queer and trans folks from publicly funded research results is bad science, a free speech violation, and against what researchers as part of gaining IRB approval. LGBTQ participants donate our time and info, we deserve equitable results.

While most have not, those that have are harming their trans patients.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

And if there was one message I wish I could convey, from our groups to you, it's that - don't wait.

When you see a need, don't wait to try to fill it or fix the problem. There's no "authority" or "adults in the room" to wait for.

There's just us, and we're enough.

Don't wait.
Act.
Anarchists are all over, but we've learned there's not much point to being loud about our affiliations and our tendency in this day and age - so instead we just get to work.

We just build things, fix tings, make things happen. We see a need and we just do it. It is maybe our defining trait.
