Was this in Toon Boom or Flash? I agree sometimes I would rather just draw something new than pose the rig, although sometimes the inverse is true too for me! It really depends on the type of pose/expression

The discourse about the Shrek style change is interesting to me, since when they shifted the art style for Puss in Boots it got very little backlash from what I remember. When you watch The Last Wish and Shrek 2 back to back they both look very different , especially with the eyes and fur
