Shit flows downhill. When you're an executive, your outputs become someone else's problem. When you're doing the implementation, the gap in every half-assed idea and slipshod assumption becomes visible & it's your responsibility to fix it.
A new global study shows that AI adoption varies by seniority, with 87% of executives using it on the job, compared with 57% of managers and 27% of employees. It also finds that executives are 45% more likely to use the technology on the job than Gen Zers …
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

I think people really don't appreciate how remarkable it is that the games industry releases hundreds of video games every year when you consider that not one person on earth knows how to make a video game

Something similar happens in the software industry. A lot of engineers are being pressed by managers who generate a bunch of toy code using genAI over a couple of hours, then wonder aloud why the people who work for them are being so inefficient.
It's easy to see shoddy research as a bad actor problem. But if AI slop like this can make it through editors and peer reviewers, it means there are systemic problems at work. And I'd argue that at least part of the problem is the overwork culture in academia-- pressure to do more while caring less.
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

Tim Sweeney says it makes no sense to disclose if a game uses Ai on the games store page because it will be used in nearly all products in the future.

"Why stop at AI use? We could have mandatory disclosures for what shampoo brand the developer uses."

This. Holiday dishes are hard. You do them once a year with no practice. Cute yourself some slack.
I used to always do a whole roast duck on Christmas. No more. Sous-vide yourself a pair of duck breast and everyone's happy!
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.
it is tired to the point of cliche to say if turkey was good, people would make it more than once a year. but it is understated that at least one American explodes every Thanksgiving in a brave attempt to make the main dish more palatable
