I feel like sitcoms are always trying to make me think that pranks play a much bigger role in our cultural celebrations of Halloween than they do

Don't forget that I'm livestreaming old Halloween content at creep-tv.net every hour of every day in October!

Right now is the highly underrated Curse of Dracula; a fan-edit combining all 11 chapters of The Curse of Dracula from the show Cliffhangers. One of my favorite modern-day takes on Drac!

Honestly think that Post-Crisis Superman is MORE indebted to Wolfman/Ordway (and later Ordway solo) than it is to Byrne.

The triangle era especially is an extrapolation of Adventures way more than the largely single-issue stories Byrne was putting out
danschkade.bsky.social
The Post-Crisis / Byrne era of Superman comics was a period that really pushed the idea of Metropolis being a real-life big city (lots of empty fast food wrappers on the ground, etc) and nobody but nobody executed that better than Jerry Ordway. His DC universe was a place with Starros AND Sbarros

Superman, by Jerry Ordway & Anthony Tollin, from 1991’s Who’s Who In The DC Universe.

Many artists have created splendid takes on The Man Of The Steel. But few can equal Ordway, whose Superman always feels thoroughly authentic and nigh-on definitive.

Important note. Girl was Hal Holbrook

Bill Mather’s hauntingly beautiful matte painting of Gotham City for BATMAN RETURNS (1992). Flawless.
A snow-covered Gotham skyline at nighttime with the Gotham Zoo in the foreground. Black space in the middle of painting for projection.

I have deconstructed apple pie at home
denobel.bsky.social
Overheard a bartender say dessert tonight is a deconstructed apple pie, and can you take those pieces and make me an apple pie?

Can’t say I fully understand why the NFL channel has a segment on what Rene Russo’s best role is, but I appreciate it

Do you ever think about the missed opportunity of Sid Haig being on an episode of Batman 66, but not famous enough yet to be a main villain of the episode?
Sid Haig as a King Tut henchman

H2 is insane because there’s literally no protagonist. You just occasionally fade in and out of various characters

Do love that Michael Myers has absolutely no memory of Laurie Strode and isn’t chasing her remotely
denobel.bsky.social
The Halloween night one shot of Michael just wandering around killing people is a franchise-best moment
denobel.bsky.social
First movie: the same
Second movie: Corey Cunningham takes up as a killer while Laurie heals in the hospital
Third movie: Laurie’s emotionally healed while the town starts to embrace evil and it’s up to her to purge it from the town by killing Michael
denobel.bsky.social
This trilogy would make a lot more sense if they took the Corey story from Ends and put it with the Laurie story from Kills, THEN took the Evil Dies Tonight story from Kills and partner it with the Laurie story from Ends as the finale
denobel.bsky.social
The biggest success of this trilogy is in introducing likeable characters right before they’re killed off. The kid who is happy to go hunting with his dad as long as he doesn’t miss dance class rules

The number of times this franchise has tried to transfer Michael Myers on Halloween …
denobel.bsky.social
I do love the visual style of these. Kind of the perfect look for a modern Halloween movie
denobel.bsky.social
I do still prefer H20 Laurie to the DDG Laurie (Halloween Ends excepted)
denobel.bsky.social
Saves you from having to include the podcasters, and makes him more threatening than a man who killed about 5 people ever
denobel.bsky.social
Still think Halloween 2018 should have just opened with Michael having been free for 40 years per the actual end of the original movie

Got a kids book from the library that’s just 100% the plot of Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo so I’ve subtly changed the characters names to Turbo, Ozone and Kelly just to prime my daughter for the best movie ever made

The one upside of the post flu-covid shots feeling horribleness is the knowledge that you’re not actually sick

Not to mention even trying to schedule around that cast, plus people’s insistence on it coming back to just street racing that Vin’s into
