I think Star Wars: Outlaws is the most fragile PC game I've played in ages.

It's been a long time since I had a game crash with such regularity.

Ubisoft (after a long support conversation) eventually blamed it on hardware.

Mass Culture - Primal | Ephemeral

Greek post/sludge metal. I really enjoy the atmosphere on this album. I do have to say... not a great band name. Not even sure what they were aiming for there.

Good fun if you like old-fashioned beat-em-up games.

Maybe a little too heavy on the lore.. and honestly the accent applied to the "mother" grates a bit, but looks like a deep game that will keep me entertained for a good while.

Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing

All the way back to the 2nd album for this US metalcore band - still my favourite of theirs.

Notably, this band has two self-titled albums, released less than a decade apart.

Yeah, good news.

Does the ordeal rate a mention in your Google review of the venue?

Soothsayer - Echoes of the Earth

Sludgy, atmospheric doom out of Ireland. They've been quiet for the last few years, but I hope there's more coming. Their early EPs are good, but it feels like they hit their straps with this album.

Those guys were forced out *due* to an administrative foul-up, which, again, is the root cause of all the shit we've been seeing from the club.

The club has lurched from knee-jerk reaction to short-term decision over the last two and a bit decades (paying out close to $2m (my estimate) for people *not* to coach the club)

My point is that Mr Lerner is putting way too much weight on the movement of four players.

and administrators - they are cultural. Good culture takes effort, bad culture is what happens when no-one is paying attention. That's what happened at Essendon.

When Hird & Thompson arrived in 2012 they entered less a club than a collection of warring fiefs and it didn't get better.

I've said this many times, but in my view Essendon's problems stem from poor administration. They missed the move to professionalism around 2000 (things going so well on-field, no-one rocked the boat) that most of the competition started to embrace.

The issues transcend players, coaches...
derekjarman.bsky.social
Just means they're not looking hard enough (as if it's that hard).
derekjarman.bsky.social
Yeah, that's pretty unreasonable.
derekjarman.bsky.social
Well, in that case, they're being oversensitive babies and deserve everything they get.

I mean... we all should read the terms, but we also have become conditioned not to expect unreasonable conditions.

I'd get it if you were cancelling the week before the trip... but months out?

Testament - The Formation of Damnation

These US thrash legends release their 13th album today, so in honour of that, I present (IMO) an album where they returned to form.

Sonically similar to "Practice...", but undeniably modernised.

My approach in similar circumstances is to bring the situation to the vendor's attention (for you: mention the short time b/n book and cancel, plus the lead-time) and ask them what one should do.

That gives them the option of the gracious response.

ACL references early on get people's backs up.

Cryptic Abyss - Feed 'em to the Sea

Now-defunct Australian death/thrash/groove band that put out a couple of albums and disappeared - which is a bit of a shame.

We should expect that the individuals making these egregiously stupid (and in some cases, potentially criminal) decisions at government and corporate organisations would be held accountable.

However, our institutions are completely uninterested in that.

So... it shit keeps happening.

I thought these guys were done, but there has been recent movement that indicates they are releasing another album.

Melancholic and gothic but without leaning too heavily on synths.

Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera

These Germans play my favourite kind of power metal - it's a bit more "muscular" than a lot of the more symphonic, higher-pitched versions.

The epic "And Then There Was Silence" is a favourite.

On average, the item on Amazon that most closely matches your search will be the 17th result on the page.

Amazon treats their customers and merchants pretty shabbily these days. My approach is to always look for other merchants selling what I'm after before using Amazon.

Assuming this survey is at least semi-accurate... I find the idea that so many people think that their mental health challenges are an *important part of [their] identity" kinda disturbing.

I'm not saying you can't have challenges... but you have to be about more than your struggles.

INSOMNIAC - Om Moksha Ritam

A recent find, I'm not entirely sure where they fit. Doom? Grunge? Stoner (quiet, light version)?

Either way, these yanks create floaty, atmospheric dreamscapes that are pretty pleasant to listen to.

They just released their second LP but I'll call out this Danish electro-metalcore/melodeath band's EP from 2021 instead.
Not ground-breaking, but well-executed nonetheless.
